What's the deal with hackers? Why in the hell do they do their crap to little guys like me?!?!?!?!?!?! I can understand someone having troubles and attitude towards someone like Microsoft and such, but me? C'mon, I'm just a nobody!

I run my own WWII aviation site (Web-Birds) and run a messageboard. Some A-Hole thought I must be a challange and hacked the site so that I cannot access it anymore. Wow... must mean I hit the big time! Where's my fame? where's my fortune? bastards... and it's a free messageboard program! He /she/it must have a problem with the creator! And to make matters worse, the board I use does not allow me to access my account via a backdoor or other sneaky way... so I will either lose everything by reloading and starting over or maybe I can load a program they suggested and upload the last backup I did losing whatever updates, messages and users that joined since the last backup... last MAY since I've been so busy fishing. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :angry2:

Anyone run across a little piss-ant named ManyaK kill him for me, would ya? I'm about 2 seconds away from just dumping the whole messageboard hassle anyway- Rod, you have my utmost respect brother!

:rant OFF:

If you don't do your own hosting then the people that do should be able to get you back in. If you do your own hosting and can't get into the sever as an admin because the password has changed I can help, LMK.

Lesson: Keep up with secutity updates, especially when using the imfamously hackable phpBB scripts. You should be able to reset the password in one of the SQL tables.

I had my site defaced a few weeks ago becuase of an XML exploit (took the arse less than 5 attempts and 2 seconds to do it). They then posted about it on a message board, and I had a few dozen people hit the site from the same referral IP so I was able to track down the offending IPs from the raw server logs (it doesn't mean squat whent hey run through a couple annonymous proxies though).

Wow, Swiss, I'm sorry to hear that. That's gotta be infuriating.

Hmmm, maybe I should quit trying to hack into your coolerdor.

It's a pain... but I got everything back. I was ONE version number out of date and wham-o. And I understand anything is hackable- no matter what precautions you take. What I don't get is why...? I see the whole Microsoft/US Defense/Bank hack scene... going against 'the man' and bringing them down a level. But if I were a prepubescent, pimply faced, brace and glasses wearing 12 year old that the girls laughed at (no offense to any of you here matching this descripion! :0 ) I woudl not see my site as anything nearly resembling a challange. Just because you can? that's lame... where's the challenge- good God reach for the stars and grab 'em by the kahones, don't just scratch yer kahones and take whatever happens to be easy...

:rant off:

Oh well... happens again screw it, I'll show 'em. I'll just shut down and delete my board! Not like it gets used alot...

And General Preembaro- I see ya snooping around Smokey again, it'll be me hacking- your hand off!

Sorry that you are having troubles on that site and I hope you can correct it soon. By the way, I just checked out your site for a bit and from what I can see it is a great little site. I will be back there to look around more in-depth.

thanks... between CP, my site and the fire dept, I'm amazed I have any free time. But keeps me insane whereI like to stay.

It's a badge of honor with the script kiddies - they try to get the most defacements to brag about it. They can hit a couple hundred in a few minutes when they find sites running the outdated scripts (mine was only 7 days out of date when it got hit). Not really hacking, just exploiting whatever the most recent or widely spread vulnerability is.
