What's your preference?

Been thinking about this lately (see Midwest Pass), and was wondering where I would prefer to be in a pass.

I think I've decided it really doesn't matter. If you're near the start of the pass, then you get to have that cigar from the starting line-up that you've been eyeing before someone else takes it. If you're near the end of the pass, perhaps someone will put something in that you really want, and you basically get last crack at it! It seems like (although this isn't a rule) that all the passes I've watched end with more cigars than they started with, so if you're at the end, you've got more selection. But of course in a pass I just sent off, there were a whole bunch of cigars at the start that I really wanted that were gone quick, before I got the pass.

So I guess I don't really care where I would fall. Does anyone out there have a preference, or any other insight as to why they'd like to be near the start or end?

If you're hosting the pass, you're last. Just the way it works.

If you're a participant, you're usually grouped geographically close to the next person. Saves on shipping costs.

Luck of the draw.

I really can't say. I've never been in a Pass. After I have a few under my belt I'll let you know.

For the most part it doesn't matter. Always something good in the pass.

So I guess I'm just post whoring at the moment. :whistling:

Geographic is the way to go. Saves on time as well.

I have always been towards the end of the pass. I would like to be at the front once. (no jokes) ;)

OK, let me rephrase the question. I realize as a pass host where folks need to go, however I was just wondering this:

When you find out where you are at in the pass, do you jump with joy because you are at the beginning, end or you just don't care where you are?

Personally it doesn't matter to me. It would be nice to be the first one to get a chance at the sticks, but if it's a well run pass, the quality of sticks will be there throughout the entire pass. I've never been first, but I have been last before the host.

Being the greedy bastid that I am I like to be near the front so I can grab all the Cohibas before you other knuckleheads can beat me to them ;)

I like being near the end because there are more cigars to choose from and the generosity demonstrated here by most people usually means that a pass has better sticks and a larger number to choose from near the end ;)

Interesting question....

I've been in exactly 3 passes and have been First (After the Holidays Pass), Last (Promotion Pass) and in the Middle (Gonna Be a Daddy Pass).

I'd have to say being in the middle was the best for me. I like following the pass from beginning to end. When I was first, it felt like everyone else was still having fun (doing the pee pee dance, is how some folks have referred to it) while I was all done. When I was last, it seemed to take foooorrrrevvvveeerrr for the box to hit my doorstep. Being in the middle was juuust about right!

All three were a blast, though!

Really? ;)

i think id like to be near the end. this is my first pass and though i am very excited i would like to see the latter stages of a pass. to see how the inventory has changed.

Well, being the pass veteran that I am (2 passes  ), I don't care. I like the uncertainty about the whole process. You never know what's going to be in that box! Also, like psytek said, I'm just glad to be there!

I agree.... ;)

It does not matter. I enjoy watching a pass and posting about it almost as much as getting the actual pass. It's all about fun.
