Just wondering where people go to buy toner cartridges for their laser printers. I've got a Brother HL-2040 that uses the TN-350 cartridge. At Staples and OfficeMax, they're $60 or more. Online, prices start at $30...but I don't want to chance buying remanufactured or junk knockoffs.

Do you have a reliable vendor for OEM cartridges at decent prices?

Hey Wilkey, I have mine refilled once or twice before I toss them. No harm done. I have a regular color printer and a good photo printer. I would never refill my photo printer cartridges. The cartridges can handle it a few times with no noticable difference. I use Cartridge World. It cost $6 for each cartridge compared to $12 brand new. Good Luck!

I have two large HP Printers, a 4Plus and a 5Si. I also have a Sharp AL-1551 photocopier/laser printer.

I bought a cartridge from staples once and not long after I bought it, the fuggen thing caused my printer to screw up.

When I was working on a political campaign in 2003, some guy just stopped by headquarters asking if we needed any work done on our copiers or printers. I said "Hey, you're just the kinda guy I was looking for!"

He either refilled or got me much better cartridges for the two HP printers and refilled my cartridge for the Sharp (the one that came with it brand new had very little in it to begin with, they do this on purpose so you have to buy a new cartridge after very little use :angry2: ).

I'll probably never by another cartridge from Staples ever again....

Thanks Jeff,
I'll check out CartridgeWorld. Well I'll be damned...they have a store in People's Plaza right near my B&M. Isn't that convenient. :D

Bill,
RIght on. The "starter cartridge" has about 60% of the "regular cartridge" capacity.

Null,
It's not so much evidence of the disposable society as I think the business model. Well, there is that, too. In the biz, they call it the "razors and razorblades" model. Provide the device cheap or at a loss and make your profits from the consumables/supplies. In the late 90's, it cost HP about $6 to make an inkjet cartridge that retailed for $30. I can guess that the unit cost is well below $5 now and the cartridges are no cheaper.
