In one of my previous posts, I linked a cigar.com opusx advertisement....after about 3-6 minutes it seemed, the thread started receiving replies emphstically stating that they were disgustingly overpriced. Had I not come here, I would not have had any idea and would have thought that due to the rarity of the cigars, the price was relative and therefore justified.

I'm sure that from my posts, you all can tell that I am quite new to cigar smoking as a hobby. I've really only been at it for at most 6 months. My question to those that know is "where is a good place to buy decent smokes online without getting ripped off?" I've bought from famous, gigar.com, CI, and the prices for the ones that I've smoked all seem somewhat close to each other.

Is there a place out there online (my work hours don't seem to coincide with cigar shop hours besides the fact that the only shop around here had prices even higher than the ones that I got from online) that is decent in price, AND carries decent smokes?

Thanks in advance

Bill

Also, keep in mind that different places will have good or great deals on different lines. On top of that, a place with so-so prices today might be the place to grab the best deals next week. Deals are out there. With some patience and practice (and the help of the experienced guys here) you can get some terrific cigars are reallyreat prices.

Bill,

First, Welcome to the Cigar Pass BB! Since you're a Newbie, you might find some good basic information here:
http://www.cigarpass.com/forumsipb/index.php?showtopic=19797

Second...sources, JR Cigars has a shop downtown at:
http://www.jrwashingtondc.com/

They're open Satudays and are accessible by metro from the Redline, the Farragut North stop. They honor the online sale prices and if they have it in stock, you'll get the sale price. They usually have most of the sale items. But sometimes it may take them a few months to get the new items.

All of the sources listed above are good. Shop between them to get the best prices. Another good site is www.BestCigarPrices.com
However, make sure you understand their shipping and handling rules before you order from them so you don't get slammed with their $5 BONG charge. And they call it their "BONG" charge. http://www.bestcigarprices.com/frame.php?page=shipping.php

If you ever have any questions, feel free to email me or PM me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY by the way! :D

And...Thank you for your service!

I purposefully left thompson'e out of the equation on the original post lol....to me and remember ...I'm a complete newbie one the subject....if there ever seemed like a fela market....k-mart....building 19 (you old timers from the new england area wil remember building 19) for cigars....Thompsons is the place....I was pointed in their direction...I used them for ideas on what to try...but never bought from them.....they just seemed too ...."cheesy"

Bombtek I'm a noob myself, but I've had great luck with Cigars International. They have zero issues delivering to my APO in Baghdad and they usually get here in less than 10 days.

Great post though, I was about to ask the same thing.
