OUCH... that one hurt. I'm a HUGE WWII nut, and I even work with the grandson of one of the two pilots that actually got off the ground at Pearl Harbor (he shot down 4 planes)... but that movie SUCKED as bad as any has ever sucked. My favorite song is the one from Team America - Pearl Harbor:

Seriously though, I was looking forward to it for a while, then after seeing it I was like "that's it?". Didn't live up to the hype, but I'll give the next one a shot as well (just not with the same high expectations).

no, Welch died during the 50's in a plane crash... Lt. Kenneth Taylor was the other pilot to get off the ground, and flew with George Welch during the attack. Due to the fact that he never officially achieved 'Ace' status (shooting down 5 or more planes in combat) there is not as much out there on him. Google Search

I work with his grandson Eric who is a stand up guy in his own right... Paramedic, was a National Guard ParaRescue jumper who made a number of jumps hre in Alaska and overseas, and is very proud of his Grandpa!

Eric says his Grandpa made 'Ace' status, according to his flight logs, but officially according to the USAF he did not... rules around the awarding of aerial kills kept a couple from being recognized, although they most certainly were kills - they just could not be verified by another source- wreckage, witnss, etc...
