So I am going to be in Vegas for my first WSOP event (event 47 ~ mixed holdem). I arrive in Vegas the 23rd and leave the 27th. If anyone wants to get together at some point during that time let me know and if I am not playing cards maybe we can get together. I am so excited!!

Sounds like fun wish I could be there. BTW ... what is "mixed hold'em" and why not get in the "Main Event"?

Mixed is a switch back and forth from limit and no limit. Simply too much luck involved in the ME. That and I do not have that kind of time/cash to dedicate to poker, but someday.

Main event is a joke. The only way it's worth playing is to satellite in.

Play well Jim. I won't say "good luck," because we know it's not all about luck in poker.

Do you say that because of all the crazy amateurs making silly/stupid calls and getting lucky against the better players?

Basically, though it happens in poker everyday.

My point was that you have to fade a ridiculously large field of donks and pros in the most common poker game that costs you $10k to enter. I'd rather try my luck at a PLO or RAZZ event, or even the $1500 NLHE....think about your odds to even cash in the Main event, and compare those to cashing in 4 or 5 other events which you could play in instead of the Main event.

I went last year for a few weeks -- was a blast. I like that they've made the stacks deeper this year. Mitigates the donk factor somewhat.

Funny you should say that Andrew because I went back and read your thread on CF and the pics made me even more excited about going. I am hoping to cut back on the donk factor with the Mixed event. It might prevent me from pushing when I don't need to, at least in the limit rounds. We will see I am just glad to cross it off my bucket list :).

I was in Vegas a few years ago when the WSOP was going on but I never got a chance to play. It is definitely on my bucket list as well. I'd probably do the $1500 NLHE event. Good luck, bro.

My buddy is playing in the $2500 Razz event that just started...I hope you both give em hell in your separate events.

Our local casino held a freeroll tourney and first prize was a seat in the main event. There is this really nice old lady that plays horribly and she won the freeroll. My buddy says, "If she wins the main event, I'll never play another hand of poker as long as I live!"

I think he has it backwards, if she wins the main event, I'm going to start playing in her game.
