You Better Watch Out!

Thanks for the heads up John...I hope they will re-issue and re-produce cards, giving the cardholder the option as to having RFID or not.

If you are concerned you can always outfit yourself with these RFID blocking devices...:

I noticed they were doing it in Memphis, which is where I do most "non-Walmart" shopping. Hopefully it isn't prevelent in the Mempho.

I'm no expert but I have done a little R&D work with RFID equipment. One thing we discovered was that if you had two RFID badges together in the sleeve neither of them could be read because they interfered with each other. That's one of the reasons you still can't run your cart through the RFID scanner at Wal-Mart.

If you're really concerned about this aluminum foil will block RF waves. You don't want to put the foil right up against the card because it is also electrically conductive and static may scramble your mag strip.

I just noticed this has already been covered by our wonderful free market economy. Aluminum Wallets are already available that advertise "RFID Proof".
