How has COVID-19 impacted you?

People at my place of employment are allowed to work from home if their position was found to not be directly related to production. The IT team must have one person on-site at all times the others can work remotely. We are all taking turns, today I am at home. Already had a stogie and played with the dog. Not a bad deal so far.

MA just cancelled all schools until 5/4! Maybe it was a bad idea giving away all those cigars... :p:D🤣

OK schools are doing virtual learning, for the remainder of the year, starting April 6th. Should be an interesting time. We also need to somehow get my daughters rented violin from the school, we're still paying a rental on that :)

In MI they have said that online or other forms of learning won’t be considered as “seat time” and therefore will not count for the kids current year. I don’t think this has been resolved yet.

Doesn’t look like college’s are affected in this way,but they are still struggling to figure out how to deal with all this.

Try getting in contact with a custodian.

Yup! I’ve been doing “distance learning opportunities” with my students starting the beginning of this week. I’ve been in touch with my principal over the same issue. I know parents want the instruments they’re renting to be home AND I’ve had to come up with interesting alternatives for the band kids. It’s given me sort of a different perspective though and is providing some nice “check-in” opportunities with the kids.

A little sanity from some mainstream sources like the NYT, WAPO, Science, etc.

My daughter's school here is fine, as they are doing accredited distance learning. However, I'm hearing reports from friends still in Hawaii that they are being told the current last-minute, homemade models they are using will not be credited by the state, and if schools are out the rest of SY19-20, then it's a possibility that students will have to repeat the grades. I know it's not as "simple" as this, but if this is the case, then they should just call this "summer break" during the shutdowns, and set a tentative return-to-classroom date for early June, and work through until the scheduled beginning of the next school year -- traditionally in mid-August. It's unorthodox, but what isn't about what's going on right now...?

Notice the word "OPINIONS" in the url?
Before commenting perhaps you should read and click on the links. They are a different color than the normal type and show you credentials and sources.

Some think info wars is non biased, I research news, while it is well known media outlets have biased period, I don’t believe any sources who support conspiracies. Yeah media is owned by a handful in the US. Personally, and maybe this is my own fiduciary biased view, I’m trusting what comes from the CDC, until I have a valid reason not to. Knowing what was done during the Tuskeegee experiment and sterilizations in Latin America, I have plenty of ammo to not trust the CDC or US gov, but here I am. A disease control expert trained in contact tracing. Do I posses a PHD or other set of letters? No. I’ve regurlarly been in rooms full of MA,MS, MPH, PhD, MD, and able to hold my own when discussing topics. You do you, always, but I would hate for the day to read about a fellow B/SOTL who died because they took this pandemic lightly or feel it was blown out of proportion. Be well.
