Ladies and Gents it saddens me to post this, but it appears we have lost one of our best.

Kann was nice enough to post some information on FB earlier and I tried hard to disprove it, but with no success. I don't have the circumstances, but it appears Larry has passed.

I am one of the lucky ones that can say I had the great pleasure of sitting down to lunch with Larry and sharing stories. He was such a generous man in so many ways. A true friend to anyone who had the chance to spend time with him. He's well known here for many reasons including his love for the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. He was always the host of baseball pools and the like. Not a negative bone in his body.

Raise your glass tonight and pull out one of your best, to say goodbye to one of CP's finest. Larry, you will be miss buddy. Rest in Peace.

*Edited to add apparent COD: Massive Heart Attack. I only add it so there’s no talk of COVID or something related to it. Thanks again Nick for shedding some light on it. Fuckin’ sucks.

Damn. Always hate to hear this, and never any words that are enough. RIP, Brother.

I’m so sorry to hear this. This sucks. I really enjoyed all of my conversations and interactions with Larry, even though I’ve been inactive for a while. RIP my friend.

This hit me hard this morning when I first saw the news. I've had the pleasure to enjoy Larry's company when he would make his way to KC to visit his daughter. We've shared stories and laughs over cigars and a few drinks. And of course we trash talked each other over the Royals and Cardinals.

Generous, kind, and compassionate about life, you'll be missed my friend.

Man I will miss Larry as he was such a giving person. I was lucky to have had a chance to meet up with him. We played golf at an Outlaw event and had the chance to smoke cigars, have drinks and just hang out. Truly a big loss to our community and personally. RIP my friend.

I had the opportunity to share a few sticks with Larry and truly appreciated his company and his loving attitude. This is a real sucker punch indeed. I'm so sorry to hear this.

Rest in peace brother.

A number of years ago, Larry bombed me when no one here really knew me from Adam. I was incredibly appreciative, and though I passed it forward as I could, I certainly didn't have the same shelf of sticks as he did at the time. When I posted that I was going to be in St. Louis for a museum conference in 2017 (I think?), I barely had a chance to hit "post" and I had a message from him inviting me to meet with him. We were able to get together at his club, and he treated myself and my two guests with me like we were long-lost friends. Since that time, he's dropped packages in my mailbox on several occasions, always leaving me speechless. Earlier this year, along with "Secret Santa, Pt. II" he included a nice hand-written note which I still have. He mentioned that he was going to be in northern Germany in March, and we were going to try and meet up there. I am incredibly sad to admit that I let it slip to the back burner since it was still a little ways away at the time, and I completely forgot about it until he posted of his travels in Berlin, I think it was. I'm kicking myself in the ass so hard over that right now -- that missed opportunity I let slip away without a good excuse.

Many of you older guys here knew Larry a lot better than I did, for sure. However, when I woke up this morning, what I posted on FB was literally the first thing I saw, and it left me breathless; I felt like I was punched in the gut. Like Wyatt, I searched and sent messages trying to make sure what I saw was just some sort of misunderstanding and that it was someone else. Larry was one of the best, and CP is better for his time with us that we had.
