28th October 1940 - 28th October 2025, NO day (''OXI") anniversary
Today is one of the greatest days in Greek History. As today back in 1940 Greek soldiers, Constables and EON Youth stand-fight-win against the invaders to our country: Fascist army of Mussolini and Cham albanians.
I am smoking Black & Elegant Vanilla and at dinner i will raise a glass of wine to the memory of innocent victims (from bombards-executions) ,members of the Resistance and the fallen countrymen in battlefield.

Something i forgot to add in my previous post about ''OXI'' the ''NO day'' 1940 anniversary. Our Presidential Guards in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier based on the ceremonial formation, at some point while changing shift with the bodies and rifles (necessarily with bayonets on top) they form the "OXI" to remind everyone of the proud answer of our Governor I. Metaxas and how our Freedom was conquered with our weapons in battle.
See you Gentlemen in few days, due to the loss of my father few months ago and lot of bureaucracy i have to go to my birthplace to help my mother for Winter preparations and gather some documents from the local Public Services for her pension which she is entitled to.

We have an old saying here: ''It's better to chew than to talk" and this applies for persons which don't know almost anything about us and slander our country:
“Put your house in order. Nobody likes scumbags. It doesn’t matter if you make good yogurt, i don’t care. Hurry up. Get up in the morning. Go to work. You get retired very early. I know you have wonderful weather, but it doesn’t matter. That’s part of the problem.”
In fact, the worst words she used didn’t end there, as she then compared Greek citizens to “uneducated pets” who “no one punishes them, like when a dog pees on the carpet.”
But some years latter come here ''officially'' and say absolutely different things trying to flatter us to make business deals with her country.
That's ridiculousness !

Been burning through a couple tins of Old Joe Krantz, alternating between an Elwood (early Les Wood) root billiard and a Castello small billiard that just makes this blend sing. Perique in this blend is the chef's kiss.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2026
Here in Greece, on December 31st exactly at 12, we turn off the lights and exchange wishes-hugs-kisses among ourselves. Shortly after or the next day, on the morning of January 1st, it is customary to cut a specially made pie, the Vasilopita which has a coin inside. The name comes from Saint Basil (from Caesarea in Asia Minor, which was once a Byzantine city). First, we cut a piece for Christ, the house, the poor, the Saint and then one for each member of the family.
If the family is small, then we also cut a piece for the animal, one for the car-motorcycle, so the whole pie will finished. If the coin falls on a member of the family it brings good luck, if it falls on someone else, it is a blessing for it, this year for us it fell between the piece of Christ and our house.
PS: As you can see, the sugar powder didn't hold up well on the top of the pie, usually the top is white as snow. It doesn't matter, may we all be well and healthy this year, i wish you all health and have good smoking for all the 2026!
