Google sheet so I can update it from my phone. Otherwise I'll forget to remove what I've smoked. And I can keep (basic) tasting notes in real time.

I don't anymore... there is too much movement in and out and I would never keep up.

The most that I do now is if I am planning to keep something longer, I'll date them either individually or as a whole so I can get an idea of how they are aging.

Cigar Scanner app. It's not a perfect system, but it works decently enough for my needs and I've yet to find anything better. Mostly I appreciate that it allows me to jot down notes for each individual cigar, so it combines the humidor tracking functionality with that of a cigar journal.

I sense a blatant plug! 😁

I use Excel but it is very static and I only update it every year or so ....................... it sounds like there are better ways?

Kinda smelled like that's where this was going. I'm all for it if he knows something that works better than what I'm using, that's for sure. 🤣

Exactly! It goes along with..............."Where did I put my coffee cup, I just had it!"
My nephew has gotten really bad! He is GM of a heating and Air Conditioning company and was on the phone with one of the techs. The tech could tell that Matt was griping and unhappy about something and he asked Matt what was wrong. Matt said "I can't find my cell phone" the tech said "you're talking on it!"

That's what I'm running into. Jeff has been trying to help me with Excel, and has come up with a few proposed spreadsheets I can use. Problem is, he's a Windows guy, and I'm a Mac guy. We struggled over the phone for him to explain things to me because of the differences between the operating system excel layouts.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and have come to the realization that my kids would be in a world of shit if something happened to me. They realize there's some value in that collection, but I don't think they realize exactly how much value. I can see some slick guy coming in and offering them $50 K for the entire lot, and they think they're getting a great sum of money, while I roll over my grave. Not only would I like to document what I paid, as well as current value (as of certain dates), but also provenance, which is important with Cuban cigars.

I’m working on something similar. For now I’m marking each intact box with approximate current value. It’s bananas. Always knew they were a fine investment but never saw this coming. It’s possible the biggest chunk of change I leave my daughter will be from my humidor.

Exactly! I'm guessing like you, I was lucky in that the bulk of my collection was purchased prior to things going crazy. That, and every time I think prices on these auction sites can't go higher, they do! There are still deals out there, and money to be made, but you have to put in the time, and have the contacts to find them.

I've tried notepads, notebooks, spreadsheets....and finally gave up. Like MaytagMan, I've got lots coming and going. Also, now that I'm retired I usually smoke 3 a day, so I'd be doing more data entry than smoking. I do write the 'humi date' (the date they went in my cabinet) and the source on the bottom of boxes, which is helpful. Between that and my amazing razor sharp memory, I'm only surprised occasionally; "...holy crap, I've got a box of THOSE..??..."... 🤣

Glad it's not just me that thinks from time to time.... "When the hell did I buy that??!!??!"

Ask AI. I just asked it to create me a tracker and can send it to you. Shoot me your email. If you have Microsoft Excel on macOS, you should be good. All you'd do it:

1. Download the file
2. Open Excel for Mac
3. File - Open - Select the tracker
4. Start entering data or manipulate the tracker how you want.
