I let mine sit for a few days since it wa too wet to smoke. I smoked it tonight. My thoughts on construction and other aesthetic aspects have been previously posted so I won't reiterate here.

Prelight draw was very good - not too tight and not too easy. It lit up quite quickly and despite an initial uneven burn, it evened out and burned perfectly. The taste was very good - tasted like a Partagas. Plenty of smoke and very easy draw. I smoked it to about an inch.

Now, I am no expert and I will not say this is a real Partagas Serie D #4 Reserva as I have never smoked a "real" one. Given the construction, smell, band, and taste I would not discount this being a Partagas cigar. i will admit it was a decent cigar. The problem with this little "experiment" is that there is no way to prove one way or another whether this is a real PSD4 Reserva. I slipped the Reserva band off quite easily and it would be just as easy to slip it on a normal PSD4 or any other cigar of the same size.

The tobacco in a PSD4 Reserva has been aged, not the cigar itself. PSD4 Reservas are "fresh" cigars and should taste as such. Bottom line, this could have been a fresh PSD4, a PSD4 Reserva, or simply a cigar rolled with the same blend as a PSD4.

As many others have said here and in other threads - TRUST YOUR VENDOR. I simply don't trust cigars being handed out the back door of a factory. Thanks you for sending this Vitasea - I appreciate the opportunity to try whatever this cigar was (PSD4, PSD4 Reserva, some other cigar rolled with Partagas blend).

Sorry- but I ALWAYS let new arrivals sit and settle in my cooler for a week or so, so that they settle down (or up) to the RH level I refer... 65%. So no offense meant by not trying it right away- I do this regardless of who sent me a cigar, or where it came from.

I'm thinking of trying this cigar this weekend... looks like a good one for smoking! I just wish I had an another to compare it to... :whistling:

i definately fall into this category, have only had the pleasure of sampling about 10 of the forbidden fruit, but here is my asessment anyway, take it as you wish.

the apperance was right on with what everyone else has said, it appeared to be the genuine article. as for the experience, i enjoyed it. i let it sit over a week and did not find it too wet. even burn throughout, no touch ups needed. the ash held on for about half the cigar, at about that point the cigar became noticeably hotter and softer. i had to smoke it really slow to avoid the hot, harsh taste, but did not find the overall taste harsh at all. i make no claims that i can identify this as fake or authentic, but i did enjoy the smoke and send my gratitude out to vitasea for the opportunity, especially for the carrying case, it will definately get some good use. thank you.

I smoked mine and could only get through 1/2 of it. I got tons of smoke with a somewhat loose draw. I do feel that the tobacco was cuban but I'm not so sure the specified blend. There just wasn't any flavor that popped out at me and I didn't get that sweet spice like I normally would with a psd#4. It could be real and be in a funk because of the leaves trying to meld together. I don't know though. I flicked the ash one time and there was like a hole in the ash. I found that to be somewhat odd; it was just a small cylinder hole.

I smoked mine the night before last....

I've only smoked two or three Psd's and I thought at first this was real. It had very nice spice at the begining, and the ash was nice and holding. I noticed the burn was getting weird, but I didn't keep it up...

Needless to say, I burned like Eric's coro you sent him. Plus 3/4 down, the taste went COMPLETELY south and it was just terrible. I had to put it down. I haven't smoked the Monti D that you sent me, but I haven't seen one of these on the net either.

Does anyone have any info on these "Monti D's"? ???
The EL band is just crooked, and there is a MAJOR dip in the cigar. I'll be posting pics later of it.

OK...they're FAKE.   The band doesn't even come close to the real thing.  After my last post I put the "Vitasea Cuban" next to a real PSD#4 and the band is very different.  Not the same width or type font and the letter color is too glimmery and punched in too hard.  The length is also too long.  The ring gauge is ok though.  But...IT'S FAKE!!!  I don't even need to smoke it tell you that!  Vitasea...you suck.  Don't ever post on this forum again!!! :angry:

I have no reason to believe that vitasea does not genuinely believe the cigars he has are the real deal. He believed (and argued as vehemently) that the Cohibas he sent me and others were real. They were not.

Why is he persisting? You tell me. He did include a multi-page list of cigars and prices in the (unsolicited) cigars he sent me recently. Seems to me he's still trying to drum up business, and these free samples, like the ones he sent out months ago, are the bait to get things going.

Vitasea, you were wrong regarding the Cohibas. You really need to consider that you are wrong here as well. I'm sure you're a very nice guy, but I'm never going to buy cigars from you; I have my own sources. Please stop trying to sell me on your cigars.

Everyone else: buy your cigars only from trusted sources. Caveat emptor.

My psd#4r also had a horrible burn. It just wouldn't quit canoeing

Smoked mine last night.
Very nice looking cigar. Well made. Pre-light draw a little tight, but really not bad. Well constructed, burned evenly throughout. Very little flavor with the first draw, but woke up after about 1/3.
All in all a decent smoke. Certainly not worth $50 to me tho.

Vitasea...again, thank you for the cigar. I think mine was OK after smoking it. But you have witch hunt out for you...I would tread carefully from now on. Just some advice.
