Ashton ESG's

Here is one to laugh you ass of at!

Stopped in at a shop in Oklahoma City this afternoon and while visiting with the manager/part owner I quized him about the ESG. He gave me this "deer in the headlight look" and said he never heard about them. I just looked at him and had to explain about them. His excuse was that "he hasn't seen or talked to the Ashton Rep in a while". I was like WTF are youuuu smoking! You do own a computer and you do sell magazines and you haven't heard of the ESG?!! Although this does not surprise me, afterall this is the same guy that pissed me off enough to stop buying from him back in December.

Don't be pissed, be happy. This is the kind of guy who will sell you a box of them without any qualms, because he doesn't know WTF they are.

The guys working there are idiots in general. I called once asking about WOAMs and they said NO, but they had a box of Short Story Maduros :laugh:
 
That's funny! My local shop did the same thing. I asked if they ever got WOAM and he said no but they get the short story maduros in...that don't exist... Then he pulled out a woam...

i have a new local shop in town, stopped in today to check them out, little expensive on some stuff. he had VSG's in there, so i did the same, asked about ESG's. owner said, "you mean VSG's, there is no such thing as ESG's"
he tells me if ashton makes it he can get them. we'll have to see about boxes now upon release. are we the only ones who know about these? makes me wonder about the reps. As a factory rep for a cabinet company, i was always taught when visiting dealers to pump up my product and talk about new stuff to get the dealer excited, i wonder if the reps are even talking about these.

Ashton might be instructing reps to not talk about them unless asked. The rep I talked to who is a very straight forward, decent guy was rather matter of fact: if you're outside of a major city, don't expect to see them this year. That early June/late May date, which he says is bullshit because they are even having difficulties getting a box for display at the RTDA show, is just wishful thinking - they don't even have a price on them yet. By the fact that there is no really known price alone, a week or two from now is nothing more than wishful thinking.

Then again, they are coming out and this is going to be sometime soon - they wouldn't have taken out ads in CA if they didn't intend to release them soon, it's just not going to be in two weeks from now. Hopefully, someone like Gabriel will see a box or two by Father's Day and will let us in on his precious, precious treasure.

Also, the rep said he had smoked one in January - and they'd only let him have one. He said it was strong and flavorful - not pepper spicy, but more cinnamon spicy (he used words like 'cloves', etc) - but at the same time, he thinks that a lot of people are going to be disappointed by the hype, because, only big cities are likely to see them this year.

BTW, this is all word of mouth from an Ashton rep. So who knows. Maybe they'll spring them on us as to make us super happy and spend-silly.

He may or most likely not get my money again. After the crap he pulled around Christmas on me with some Anejos and Opus I doubt he will see my money again. And yes, I was spending sizeable amounts in his shop and on a first name basis in person and on the phone. He knew he bent me over. :angry: ;)
 
Stopped into the local B&M Saturday in Grapevine and perused the Humidor for a while and walked out empty handed. The manager asked me if I was looking for something specific so like a wise guy I said “You got any ESG’s?” He said “We just got a box in today but we’re limiting them to one per customer.” I asked him how much and he said $27.00. After a brief but severe bout of maniacal hysteria, I said “One will be enough.”
 
Well, I was lucky enough that my wife happened to be in Philly last week, and I was able to persuade her to drive out of her way. She stopped by Holt's and picked one up:

Picked up two yesterday at the local smokeshop (MATT---she's sending you an e-mail). Will hopefully be smoking one this weekend.

After doing some shopping this weekend, and just stopping by the B&M they had a box with a limit of two a person for 21.80 each, I got two. I'll be smoking one this weekend.
