Well, crud. My bestest bud, my beer drinking, game playin', fish catchin', dog wrasslin', moose and caribou huntin', 4-wheelin', pizza gobblin', pissing off the wife best friend is in Iraq for a year.

He used to live across the street, but since was re-assigned to New Jersey (again, the poor bastard!). Now he's a LtCol. in the Air Force, and assigned to the Multi-National Forces Iraq, within the Strategy, Plans, and Assessment Directorate office, whatever the hell that means. Something about taking over command of a team, either Basing, Force Structure, and traditional War Plans.

Now the one thing I have not corrupted him with (YET) is cigar smoking. HOWEVER, he whines that the only time he gets to take a break is when the other officers with him go out for a cigar break. So he asked me to send off a care package (I had already offered, trying to get him hooked!) so that he can offer them a cigar and therefore everyone gets a break!

So today I sent off 3x OpusX xXx, 3x Anejo #77, 3x Hemi Maddie, and 3x Padron '64. Hopefully that will impress the guys he works for (All brass of some type or nationality) I even wrote out what they were, and what to expect, so that he looks good!

Brickhouse, Tasman, high-n-tight and anyone else there- first, God Bless ya! and second, if you run into a LtCol. Mitchell Monroe, say Jim in Alaska sends his regards as you bitch slap him!

If anyone would want to donate for his 'smoke breaks' PM me and we'll work it out.

here's to the men and women in uniform!

Awesome, nice job on the care package.

Hey..ummm...if you have issues sending him packages of cigars like that, just umm...send them to me and I'll make sure he gets them :whistling:

Sorry to hear about your friend getting deployed. I hope all goes well in his tour over there. Sounds like he is gonna have one hell of a bomb to try.

Deployments are always fun...for the first week or two then they start to get old real quick...
However you do get to do / see things that not a lot of people get to do / see...
Good Luck to your friend…just think of the good times you will have once he returns

Way to go Jim!! He'll be smoking in no time.

For security reasons don't post an addy on the board but if you pm me or Smitty with an addy for your buddy, we'll get him into the OpFTH rotation.

And ummm...Viva La Revolucion!

sorry guys, but the position of my beer drinking, game playin', fish catchin', dog wrasslin', moose and caribou huntin', 4-wheelin', pizza gobblin', pissing off the wife best friend is filled... not to ever be replaced or subsituted. ;)

I can only hope he tries a few himself (which would really piss HIS wife off, in turn geting me some payback... :whistling: ) but seriously doubt that will happen. And, I have no info on the cigar smokers in his office- I may have just sent some great smokes to guys that like white owls and swisher sweets! (ouch...) But either way, they'll be put to fire and (hopefully) enjoyed and that's all I care about.

Mike, I thought of the OpFTH but I'm hesitant to fill a slot when he does not partake. I'd like the slots to go to the guys that really want, and enjoy, the smokes. Maybe once I get some intel on the 'others' in his office I'll add them...? I was thinking there may be a few guys here that just wanted to assist in the 'light bombing campaign' to get him his breaks. :p Once he gets settled in, and I get the intel on their cigr habits around his office, then maybe I'll step things up.

That sounds like a good plan Jim. There will always be a spot open as long there are great friends like you and the support of people like the members of CP.

oh... and Viva La Revolucion

If he works anywhere near the PALACE on VBC (he'll know what that means) I've seen their Smoking Area; real nice and looks out over one of the big Fishing Lakes Sadam made.

Make sure you send him my email address and we'll get together for sure....maybe expand the our daily Herf to be a Joint Operation (meaning involving multiple services....Army, Air Force, etc.)

Either way, I'll try to find him once I get back.

Hey Kelly,
Actually, you probably have seen it. He said, "I work in the Grand Palace, in the North end..." as well as, "I live within easy walking distance to the palace, which means I’m also close to the pool (yep, Saddam’s own pool!)" - he sent a photo of the pool, and all I can say is- WoW!

Anyways, I'll pass on some info to him- and should you run into him (besides bitch slapping him) ask him if he is the one they call TrashMan.
