Box of Padilla 1932 Toro

Greetings!

The truth of the matter regarding the damaged box is that the website which provided this box is not even an authorized retailer of Padilla Cigars.
When I was made aware of this situation, I quickly contacted Marc and naturally asked where he obtained this box.
We make a very limited quantity of cigars and to tell you the truth, any and every order that goes through our office passes through Ernesto's hands as well as mine.
Hell, we package most of the orders as well!

Long story short, when we found out the name of the website, we had never even heard of it. When we contacted them, they did not want to tell us where they received the product from.
Thus, situations like this arise where someone has received an obviously bad box and just by the look of it, I knew there was more to it than an oversight at the Little Havana factory.
Moving forward, we are marking all of our 1932 & 8/11 boxes with special codes that will allow us to find out what tobacconist originally ordered it. With such a small production, we cannot allow anyone to receive a subpar product and let alone not even know who the supplier was.

That being said, I appreciate the support on this forum and look to contribute more in the near future.

All the best,

Frank Santos

Very cool.

I have dealt with Frank in the past, thankfully not due to any problems or negative issues whatsoever with Padilla cigars, and he has always been a stand-up guy.

I bought a box from the same source as Marc and was very unhappy upon opening the box, they arrived almost identically to Marc's. I will contact the vendor but I'm not sure what they could have done differently as it seems to be a problem with the way they are packaged from the factory. It is good to see Frank post but I don't know how identifying the boxes will help to address the problem at hand, which is that the cigars are loose in the box and prone to damage that way.

I also smoked one immediately and have to say I was underwhelmed. Granted, they had been in transit, but even factoring that in they failed to impress. I really love the Miami 8/11's and appreciate their blends, so perhaps I just got a dud.

All in all, I am disappointed in this purchase.

Frank, its not the mistakes you make, but how you deal with them that distinguishes you. Thanks for stepping up and repairing the problem.

The address of this vendor is literally 3 miles away from our office.
I know that I have not shipped ANY 1932 boxes to any accounts in Miami that sell online.
My point is, some way, somehow, these boxes may have been shipped from us to let's say New York, and then they went ahead and shipped it back over to this Cigarplace.biz warehouse in Miami. While I have control of what I ship to New York, I have NO way of seeing how they manage to secure their packaging when they went ahead and shipped it back to Miami.
Packaging cigar boxes isn't rocket science, but basic protective measures must be made.
This month I have personally shipped 300 boxes of the 1932 to select retailers and I have not seen a problem as I saw within this thread. Since you have received a similarly damaged box, I can truthfully tell you they are somehow not protecting these shipments on their end. It all boils down again to the fact that this is an outlet that for some reason does not want to tell us where they purchase our Padilla line of cigars.
I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
And last but not least, thanks for your support.

That's what I noticed and it had me concerned when I emailed you about it a little while ago. The place has a lot of Padilla stuff listed for sale. I'm sure that their proxiemity to you all is a concern. The price seems much lower than any other vendor I've seen. Is it possible that these cigars were stolen from you guys?

X2 - nicely done, Frank. Your efforts have not gone un-noticed....

Best Regards - B.B.S.

That's what was going through my mind as well Marc. ??? Looks to me like this vender is a little shady though!

I believe this is definitely a vender issue! I also think you got a dud by the way, try it again these are awesome cigars!

Oh my. Now I'm very concerned that even if the cigars look good, they may have been abused in storage. I may find out today.

Frank, thank you so much for posting here and telling us about your system.

Well,
I placed an order for a box of these this morning. After reading the last posts I called Cigarplace.biz and asked to cancel the order. After speaking with Julian about the issue, he has suggested that he send me the cigars, without charging my credit card until they are received and I am satisfied with the condition. He told me that Padilla had called him today and asked him where he got the cigars. Julian says that he buys through a "supplier" and that is how he is able to discount the price.
He his going to send them to my Fathers house in Florida and I will let you know how this all works out on Monday of next week. :whistling:

I just went and opened all 6 of the Toro boxes that I have, 3 of which came from the source in question. They were all in absolutely perfect condition.

2 of the boxes do not have an EL band on the corner and had a different type of seal. The seals on the other boxes are identical to those used on the 8/11 boxes. These boxes were not purchased from the vendor in question.

I have been very pleased with my orders from this vendor.

But I am even more pleased at what an awesome smoke the 1932 is.

Hello all forum members, I am the owner of CigarPlace.biz and would like to start by saying thank you to all the customers from the forum who have purchased from us. Second, at CigarPlace.biz we have always advertised our 2-cigar Guarantee, which is as follows:

"2 Cigar Guarantee: We guarantee the freshness and quality of our products 100%. If after smoking 2 cigars, you are not completely satisfied we will exchange your product and we pay ALL shipping costs. Or we will refund your money including shipping"

We stand by our Policy 100%, and we encourage any customer who has had a problem with Padilla or any other cigar to contact us ASAP, at 1-800-913-0433.

I would also like to let all forum members know that we are a legitimate business, we have been open for two years, but we have thousands of happy customers. The fact that we don't buy directly from most manufacturers, does not make us "shady" vendors. I did speak to Mr. Padilla yesterday over the phone and I did not reveal my supplier because if I did, I would comprise my ability to offer the discounts that I currently have. The dirty little secret that most manufacturers wish to fix the prices of cigars is not good at all. If I was to buy the Padilla 1932 line directly from the folks at Padilla I would literally be forced to list them at $100 more than my current price. So, I don't buy directly from them, that is how you guys get better pricing.

We will be inspecting all Padilla boxes before shipment, in light of recent events. CigarPlace.biz takes precautions in shipping all orders in protective packaging. Yet, we have no control over the manufacturers packaging of cigars. Even so, we will exchange or refund the merchandise at a customer's request, regardless of whose packaging error it is(vendor or manufacturer).

I welcome any comments and/or suggestions from forum members, your satisfaction is our #1 priority. Contact us at 1-800-913-0433 or sales@cigarplace.biz.

Padilla Cigars does not sell direct to this company.
We want to make sure we authenticate any of our product in the market.

Because of situations like the above, where we took steps to find out why and how one of our limited boxes was mishandled in such a way, we ran into an unauthorized dealer that for some reason does not want to reveal its source.
Not once has there been any mention of price fixing of any sort.
That is a serious allegation and extremely poor in judgement to post on a public forum.

I don't want to keep harping on this but we have to stand behind our product, especially when we see a couple of forums that have threads with a Padilla problem as its subject.

On a final note, I personally invite anyone to visit our premises to view and/or authenticate any of our products. Our doors are open to everyone, including manufacturers. We have nothing to hide, our address is clearly stated at the bottom of our site. Thanks and happy smoking!

Looks like my box will be arriving on Thursday March 1. I'll be back to report on how the cigars look. The concern I have is that a box with numerous loose bands and chipped wrapper suggests the box had dried out significantly. I hope that my luck is more toward Alan's than Marc's. No offense, Marc.

I hereby transfer all my bad luck I've had with cigars lately to one Wilkey Wang. May his troubles be many, may his cabs arrive busted, may his cigars dry out until his wrappers burst, and let his humidors recieve boxes of mold! :0 :p :)

Nah, I take it back. My luck with cigars sucks lately. I wouldn't wish it on anybody at this point. :(

Well, this is certainly a unique thread. Not only do we have valuable cigar info on a great new product, we have a vendor and manufacturer blasting away with unfounded allegations and some very interesting insights into the business of cigar distribution. Wow, great thread! ;)

I'll be VERY interested to hear how your package looks and performs, Wilkey. I have become a big fan of Pepin blends and would love to avail myself of Cigarplace's price on this blend. BUT, I certainly have trepidations at this point. They do claim a good return policy, though. More generous than most, in fact.

Hmmmm

So on a humorous note. As I was reading this post, my 2 year old pointed to MT's sig tag and says "Oh, Mommy"
