1st one i've smoked that had construction problems, big 'ol fat tunnel, but surprisingly, it's not smoking too bad. I seem to be using up all by bad luck lately, maybe nothing bu sweet burns from here on out ???

Frank..............Are you sure you are not having humidity problems? Nobody, is that unlucky. Maybe, too much humidity?

Smoke cigars long enough and eventually you will find inconsistancies in even the best cigars. They are a hand made product and subject to human error. Hopefully your luck will take a turn for the better and you'll get a gem with your next smoke.

No, been at 65% for 4 months, and a big fat tunnel is a construction issue. Just some bad luck, but the Opus i smoked tonight was flawless!

Are these from the same batch you and I split? I have not had a bad one yet. Hope your luck changes.

Yep, but actually it finished up well, and smoked very well for a tunneled cigar. Tomorrow night might be a Don Carlos Edicion de Aniversario, and that bad boy better smoke well, or i'm quitting (well, until the next night  )

I also had a small burn problem, but witch 1964 Exclusivo. (my second '64 i ever smoked!)
About in the middle something strange happend and it looked like it was burning only inside.
Ofcourse some torch helped and after 5 minutes there was no problem.

I have had burn issues with 2 Padrons (and they used to me my daily smoke (2000's), and my #1 go to premium (64s and 26s)).
One was with a #35 that also had a big tunnel. Considering the number I have smoked, two issues is as close to perfect a record as I have experience with.

...and a big fat tunnel is a construction issue.

I wouldn't blame it on a construction issue.

I tend to blame tunnels on myself. They seem to be more of a humidification issue than construction.

More times than not it's because I haven't let the cigar rest long enough and the dryer part of the cigar is right in the middle, causing it to burn faster.

It's been in the humidor at 63-65% for about 3 months, the others smoked earlier out of that box were perfect (smoked probably 8). When i say tunnel, i mean a big fat empty cavity, that's not humidity, it's construction. All premium sticks are bound to have an occasional dud, that's just reality, it's not a perfect world.

Was the foot properly toasted and lit evenly? If the middle got going before the outside, this would also result in a tunnel.

I've never had a cigar tunnel.

Yes, it was toasted and lit properly, i've lit a few before. Call it a tunnel, hot spot, cavity, whatever, it was there, and it wasn't because i didn't light it properly, or didn't have the humidification right, but thanks anyway.

Were you smoking in the later afternoon? The slant of the sun might have super-dried out the inside of the cigar causing the tunnel. Or did you perhaps light it with a glowing hot length of thin iron inserted lengthwise into the cigar? That could have caused it to burn out in the middle first.
Just kidding. I think there might have been a construction issue...I've had the same hapen with a #35, as stated above.
