I had a little garage-side picnic with my girls today. While grilling, I sparked up a Quintero Brevas to keep me company and after the dogs and salmon were ready, I still had only made it halfway down the stick. And so after they sat down on the front porch to eat, I joined them and brought my cigar along with me.

I had a robust Hungarian knockwurst and a Negra Modelo bottle. I had put down my cigar to start eating, but the smoke emanating from the ashtray nearby kept catching my attention. So I picked it up, took a nice drag, paused, and then launched right back into the victuals. Well I'll be darned if the combo wasn't just smash bang satisfying. The combo of a robust dark beer, smoky spicy sausage, and robust tobacco was just hitting all the right nerve endings. Damn it was tasty!

Have any of you smoked while eating? And if so, what worked, what didn't?

Sounds like you had just the right combo Wilkey. I've done it a few times, but it's been awhile. I used to pair a bratwurst or pork sandwich together with a smoke when I was in Germany.

German fest with a beer, wurst, and a cigar was fabulous. Although I haven't done it since then.

I'm picturing this in my mind...and the picture is good!

bbq and beer always goes great together. i've spent many a weekend out in the desert on mx riding trips and there's nothing better than enjoying an assortment of grilled meats around the camp fire with any cigar, even a swisher, my first cigar.

padron maduro with coffee and chorizo and eggs was lovely.

roadside tacos throughout baja with cohiba siglos was superb.

diamond crown max with vanilla gelato and eos port was heavenly.

It's better than you think. The beer was a regional beer (aren't they all though over there) call Rauchbier. It's a smoked beer that has a very distinct taste to it.

How bout that threesome: Rauchbier, German Bratwurst (yes there is a large difference from Johnsonvilles), and a PAM 64 Exclusivo.

How I miss those days.

You wouldn't believe how good that sounds right now.

I've got some hanger steak in the fridge and if all goes as planned, that'll go on the barbie tomorrow to continue the summer fiesta.

I have never mixed food with cigars, although after hearing some of these culinary combinations that you boys are talking about, it sounds awfully inviting! Wilkey, now I think I need to try some Negro Modelo with my next cigar!

Farts,

Negra Modelo is one of my favorite beers. Sure, plenty of trendy, fancy craft brews around, even local ones. But N.M. just tastes right. Guinness Stout, on the other hand, is too dense for cigars even though I like to drink it by itself.

Now if I could find a cigar to go well with ramen bag noodles, I'll be all set. :D

All the time Wilkey, All the time. I live in the land of Bratwurst and Beer.

And I mean take a few bites, take a puff... take a swig, rinse and repeat.

And Wyatt... you must have been stationed in Bamberg.

Brats and Kraut

Steak and Onions

Braten and Knödel

BBQ anything and potato-salad

all work very well

Sometimes I eat when I smoke, but only some sweet things, like cake, chocolate or biscuits. It usually makes cigars taste a little diffrent, and even sometimes better, unfortunatelly I read that smoking during eating it not to healthy for you, because nicotine stays in food and when you swallow it, it goes into your stomach, whats not cool ofcourse.

LOL Michal, smoking isn't good for you period. If you really cared about what Nicotine was doing to you, you wouldn't be a member here now would you.

Enjoy life while you can, and stop reading about things that might kill you :sign:

But when you smoke, you can always brush your teth and tongue to avoid dead because of nicotine, but what to do when you swallow it? stomach flusch?

I do love the Negro Modelo with a good cigar, one of my favorite beers. I haven't tried eating while drinking and smoking, but I will certainly try it, especially with brats.

You are all weird. ???

Eat and smoke at the same time... I can't do it.

Brian

Speaking of weird...
I found that I enjoy cheese really make a smoke enjoyable to me.
Blue cheese in particular...
I guess something about the way the flavors contrast...
Not something I do often but have tried it a few times.
Lastly at Merchants...
A Cobb salad and a LFD Mysterio.
The cigar was nubbed and my plate was clean!

Steak with most Partagas, sometimes a Boli!
Forbidden X with BBQ ribs...wasn't the best mix.

I think Snickers is the best for all sweet cigars, last time I ate it with 5 Vegas 'A' and it was delecious conection! :D
