Not sure why I'm doing this here, except that I like being part of this community, and today was a pretty big deal.

Quite a few months ago Maisey, one of my dogs held in "joint custody" by my ex-wife and I, was diagnosed with kidney failure. She had a long, slow decline, with some nice bounces back to feeling ok. It's been clear the last few days that she was feeling less happiness and more discomfort.

Today it was absolutely clear that the best thing for her was to help her on her way. Took her to the vet and saw her off to the great beyond

My parents, my fiance, my ex-wife and our other dog buried her at Mom and Dad's in the shade at the edge of a field. She took a coupla bones, a turkey feather, a hamburger and a RyJ Short Churchill (she used to sit with me on the porch sometimes while I smoked) along with her on her journey, wherever it may lead.

RIP little friend. I love you.

Sorry to hear it brother. Friends are tough to lose, especially ones that are always there for ya.

Damn Tigger, you just made a grown ass man cry!

Sorry to hear about your loss. I like to think when our four legged friends pass they go to a special place where they get all the "people food" they want...

I'm sure that she is more comfortable today... and that my friend should give you comfort.

Truly sorry to hear of your loss, but it sounds like she had a great life with a lot of love in it! I'm sure you will cherish the memories!

I am also very sorry to hear of your loss Tigger. I think you did a great thing sending her off in the company of your family and with some of her favorite things.

Sorry to hear about Maisey. If it helps, I can tell you that the good memories will at some point wash away the grief you now feel.

To some degree, they already do. It really sucks right now, but all the happiness she brought us for years already makes today worth going through.

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts,

Tim

Tigger,

I am very sorry for your family's loss. Unconditional love is what the canine members of our family do best.

Tigger, believe me when I say my heart knows what you feel. The first time I had to do it, my heart was ripped to shreds. Dad (an MD) told me "We should all be so lucky to die in the arms of someone who loves us"!!!

Rainbow Bridge has helped me through a few, and I hope it does you too!

Tim,

I'm so sorry to hear of your sad news. I have no words that could capture the admixture of grief, longing, joy, gratitude, etc. that you and yours must be feeling. My thoughts are with you.

We can only strive for the same kind of purity and unconditional love that they give to us without reservation. My condolences.
