Brett Favre flop

Favre wasn't terrible but I guess the "flop" position is based on the entire package.

The Jets released a good QB to get him......probably for one year......after which he will probably hold the Jet's hostage like he did with the Packers.

In order to accommodate Favre, the Jets have had to revamp the entire offense......again probably for one year.

Favre "needs" to play all season, play well, and lead the Jets to the playoffs, or it's a flop IMHO

That's the problem with the organization they mortgage their future on the hopes of making the playoffs now, but they don't think about the adjustments needed on the field for the big player to be successful. So they fail over and over and over again.

Let me expound......As I said I think it will be clear at the end of the year that the Jets made a mistake and so did he. If he lights up the world and plays really well but the Jets go 7-9 anyway because of the division I will concede. If his year is so-so we can trade fivers. Make sense?

The bets were made under the premise you highlighted above. I just stated it more clearly later on partly because the division took on a major change during week one ;)

You have to admit though that with Brady gone you would have expected playoffs for the Jets......right?

I'm thinking that Buffalo will be 6 - 1 with the Jets 5 - 2 when they meet on 11/9 and the Patriots will follow with a 4 - 3 record. So after the Buffalo Jets meeting I'll have a better idea of whether or not the Jets should make the playoffs.

Of course I haven't been right on to many predictions and who would have seen Buffalo going 3 - 0.

Can't really say I'd have predicted the Jets making the playoffs though. But who knows? We'll see how it plays out.

Actually, I don't want to see him do poorly......I just didn't think this would all flush in the long run.....it still may not but today he must have looked good.
 
If Favre had any part in choosing those uniforms yesterday, I'll get my end in the mail tomorrow. Those were simply fugly.

On a side note, the replay of the Boldin hit at the end of the game was on par with the LT/Theisman thing. SCARY!!! Hope Boldin is alright.
 
I'd have to say, saying that the Jets released a "good" QB is a stretch. I know pennington has looked good in the beginning...hell maybe he was "rejuvenated" or something...but his numbers show he has been far from good.

3100 yards 22 td's is good? I mean its decent if its one of your mediocre years or heck even if you do it year in year out...but that was his best ever season...and that was 6 years ago. He has played 1 full year since he has been in the nfl...of 8 seasons.

The jets didn't release a good player. They released an inaccurate, oft injured noodle armed QB for a guy who hasn't missed a game in 15 years. Hell the least amount of TD's he has thrown in any year has been 18...and thats only 4 off of chads best year. As for yardage chad's best yardage of two years ago only outperforms Brett's yardage of his first two years playing (sorry I don't count the "falcons" year) and only by maybe 100 yards or so?

No, the reality is the jets dropped a mediocre QB who wasn't going anywhere near a superbowl for arguably one of the best QB's to play the game, and one who still has enough gas in the tank to give them a chance at the playoff's and who knows what else.

Then again Miami has Ronnie Brown to throw TD's, and he has half as many TD's thrown as chad does so far....I wonder who will finish the season with more td's thrown.

Oh, I'm a Farve fan, btw. HEHE ;)
 
Too funny..... Farve is currently a top 5 QB with more TD passes than any other QB and there's an arguement here? Hell, you can dismiss the 6 TD's he threw last week and he still ranks in the top 10 for TD's. I've never liked the guy but I sure respect his ability to play the game.

I'm sure GB will make use of their 2nd or 3rd round draft pick. :)
 
I'm a fan of Favre---my father and I used to watch the Packers games together, before he passed away, and Favre brought a lot of joy and excitement to us both---but I'm a Packers fan, lifelong, win or lose, first and foremost.

I was terribly disappointed in the decision he made, but I wish him well. Just not AS well as my Packers!

As far as Pennington, his numbers didn't look good as a Jet but the football world is pretty well convinced that it was the system and not him......time will tell :thumbs:
 
Favre better have a bad game today......he's making me look bad :whistling:
 
A couple more games like that and I could actually win these bets :thumbs:
