Fake PSD4

I'm the person he is talking about, and in NO WAY am I trying to hide or not communicating with J. We have been talking via PM for the past two days about the situation. This is what we have..

1) I told J. where I got the cigars from. The source is a long time trusted vendor.

2) I still have 3 left over from the box and compared the size to other PSD4's I have, and they are the same. He told me thru PM that the cigar is 54 ring gauge. Well, i just put it next to a 52gauge and it swalled the foot of the cigar. The cigar is 50.

3)The cigar probably tasted different because it is in a "sick" period (as I mentioned in the letter I put in the box). But, before then the cigars tasted as all of the PSD4's I have, and thats from different sources!

4) I have maintained communication with J. throughout, and told him that I wanted him to be happy with his purchase. So, Its not like I have been silent.

I also bought a 5er in this sale and until now have not really looked at them. I am no expert but I tend to believe the guys who saw them at the herf. I gave 2 to my B + M owner. I may have given one in one of my newbie bombs. I do not think I sold any but I am going to have to check my past posts. If these prove to be fakes I also expect to be refunded.

If you got a PSD4 from me in a recent bomb or sale please PM me and I will make it right. Now I have 2 in my humi is there a FOG out here who would like to look at them PM me and I will send them. If they are good please smoke them. If not let me know so I can work out a refund. I honestly cannot tell and have no ring gauge thing to measure.

Okay, thanks for coming forward. My question then is why are the cigars that MOBIG got different in gauge from the ones you have? I can see some expansion if you stored your cigars at a lower humidity than he does, but it would be minimal at best.

THAT is the question!! And, what I asked him. I will PM the others and see what they say. Like I said, I have nothing to hide and I'm not trying to get over on anyone.

I have 2 fakes (PSD4) in my humi, if you see them next to the the original you will see the difference easy!
These sticks where bought by a brother on a Dutch second hand sale site.
He was perfectly aware that they where fakes and bought them to try them and to have fun! (cheap).
I stil have not smoked one of them ......but can not say that I look forward to trying one.

I will upload a picture of them!

Guys I keep my humi at 70%-72% and like I told Mike I became concern when I got a full box and they didn’t match. That’s when I started asking questions and showed them to other brothers that could give me answers. And they all said same am no expert but tomorrow we have our Wednesday herf I’ll bring the sticks there they can look again….

If there’s someone who wants to be the tester and well knowledge on PSD4 I’ll send 1 to them and you post what you think….

In regards to ring gauges I do remember getting a box of rascc where it had a few sticks that were a hair larger (43..44) compared to the 42 it should be. Is it possible that you'll run into a few that are not exactly the specified gauges? I would think so and should be taken into consideration. Maybe jeht can share this source with an experienced member, if he's comfortable, to be sure.

If it was the source he told me before I purchased them they should be legit.

Dude the pic is showing me putting it in 54 cause it didn’t fit in 52 or 50 so its like 53 ½ can a cigar blow up that much someone tell me yes...

I just put my 2 remaining PSD4 side by side they are not the same length and the band on the shorter one is a lot futher down on the cigar than the other. Both bands are on firm so I doubt it slipped down. Not sure if that helps much because of QC problems in Cuba but the bands on the shorter one is way futher down on the cigar than the other.

What is the measurement of the interior width of the box for the suspect cigars?

Plus, I'd assume the other cigars would have swelled the same amount as they are all kept in the same conditions, so this seems an unlikely explanation.

Only if you soak it over night! That is too much a variance to make sense.

I've wrote you several times. I will do what I said and trade for 2 of them. I've smoked some fakes before. Some of them have been good and others horrible. I will even write a review of them as well. Just let me know and we can get this on the road.

Swelling will baloon a cigar a size or two larger, however, there will be a noticable softness to the area. Also, is it mostly likely(from my experience only) to occur at the foot of the cigar. To have the whole cigar swell that much...well, I'd hate to have to keep lighting it!

I've had some good fakes and bad fakes. I'd smoke these in a heart beat and give an honest opinion. I've been hassled about doing some more reviews and what better way to kick it off than with something like this. :D

keyser i can agree with you that you need to leave room for the odd expansion but 43-44 from 42 and 53-54 from 50 seem like a much larger difference. 1-2 cm vs 3-4

Just an observation, The cap on the two suspect cigars is quite large( in length) and does not appear to be a tripple cap. The variance in diameter is also suspect. A 52 ring is possible but close to 54 is unlikely.

MOBIG, take a close look at the cap is it a tripple cap where three seams can be seen?

Bob

Jeht, you're doing OK here. Thanks for coming forward and working with the community to figure this out.

Elliot, did you and Tony have hands on contact with the cigar in question. Between the two of you, I'll be satisfied as to authenticity.
