What do you look for in a humidor?

2. Step up and admit you were wrong about the way you misrepresented your participation over yonder and don't participate over there anymore. Try this, "CC86, you're absolutely right and I was wrong, I misrepresented my participation over there" and don't even bother giving excuses.

I have a question, so if we are members other places we can't be members here? Or just if we are members at that one site we can't be members here? Just asking.
Thank you for your time.

Tabb,

I think the answer to your question is here:

Yes, Rod is correct no one is saying that people can't participate on other boards.

The reality is that it's common, widespread knowledge that certain "other" boards are owned, run and moderated by just plain bad people who have mistreated and abused many people over the years. Those who have been mistreated tend not to forget. ;)

Yep, anyone is free to participate anywhere they darn well want to but if you choose to continue to participate on those "other" boards, don't be surprised when people find that objectionable.

Do I really need to explain this any further?

I didn't think so.... ;)

I don't think this is going in a good direction.

If you guys think he is running a business on your site and it isn't OK... how about you talk to the site admins? Don't you think they would step in and put a stop to him supposedly pimping his wares for a profit if they had a problem with it?

I'm sorry, maybe I missed a thread where you were all deputized as watchdogs that were meant to berate anyone you deemed to be on the wrong side of the law that you make up.

If you have a problem with what he is doing, be up front about it. Start a thread about your problem instead of hijacking one of his. Invite the people that have the keys to the kingdom to weigh in, instead of trying to goad him into saying something that will get him kicked off the site.

Talk it out like ADULTS instead of playing these internet mind games.

edit: and it is freaking sad that this brings out the most action I have seen in this place in the entire time I have been here. Use your energy constructively.

I hear you - it's been rather quiet this last six weeks since you joined...

Stick around, though - if you thought this was fireworks you ain't seen nothing yet!!!

You can be a member anywhere you want. Just remember, sometimes, the way other people smell can rub off on you.....

That is the best way it can be described!!!

No one faults anyone for belonging to other sites. The rub comes when another site is known for certain traits that would be very objectionable here. If a CP member does not know (through ignorance) that the behaviors are objectionable - how can he/she be held accountable? However - once it is known, why would CP membership now be expected to tolerate that nonsense? Rod posted the link to the issue - if you respect him and this board you will take to heart the message. This site has been and is about honesty and integrity - it is the cornerstone of what has made this place successful. If you don't subscribe to that philosphy, you'll likely not like this place very much. You may like the "feel" of another board - but it is not the "feel" of this board. I would suggest it would not be in anyone's best interest to attempt to convert the population here... ;)

Humidor Minister - if you wish to peddle your wares - more power to you. Just be up front and honest about it, and you'll find others will step to your defense. If you continue to act as though you're sacrificing yourself by "contributing" to this site and doing us all a favor by gracing us with your presence - I think you'll find a thorny path at your feet. I don't care how cheap/expensive/beautiful a humidor is - it is not worth any price if it is merely pieces of silver...

EDITED TO CORRECT SPELLING - BEFORE MS. CRABTREE WORKS ME OVER...

Read my last post please. I addressed everything. This post started as a simple question. No pics, none of my work, just a question. That's all.

Bill (HM)- Please do continue to post your artwork. I think you do amazing work. What George, Justin, Bill and others are trying to say is that if you sell something (even if it's very minimal profit), post it in the retailer forum. I know it may not make sense, but there is a fine line between nonprofit sales and for profit sales. We run CP significantly different than how other forums are run. We want everything to be clear, concise and upfront. The reason this is a sensitive topic is simply because we've had people profiteer in the past; they would create items (basic stuff at that) and sell them left and right at a significant profit, and acted as though they weren't making a penny. It's not cool to make a profit off fellow BOTL's unless they're aware of it. Not saying you were even attempting to do that, however just posting some history...

You should be reimbursed for your time, no question about that. I would never expect someone to make me something at cost. Therefore, feel free to sell your items in the retailer forum, and that should wrap up this topic.

I really like to see your work, as does everyone on the board.

I totally agree with what Rod stated below. Being honest and upfront is what this site is about.

Thanks Rod. In the future, if anyone wants to see my work I will post in the retaliers thread. Sorry for posting that I had a fellow BOTL give me a website, I was excited and it caught me bu suprise that he would do such a nice thing for me. I would like to point out though, I haven't posted my work in a while other than to defend myself in this mess. As far as Puff goes, I'm all wrapped up there.

That about wraps it up here I think.

Move along - nothing to see here!

Oh yeah: I love lamp!

My next question is, do you still want to see my work or should I keep it to myself. If I want to start retailing my work I'll post in the retailers thread. I'd really rather just show you guys the pics....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like your work. Keep posting / showing it. Just as we might be giving you ideas, you give us (me) ideas
on future projects. When we (me) start our (my) projects, I'm sure you, as always, will be available for
idea processing.

So, keep up the good work!!!

As I like to share my work I'm also happy to assist the members here if they want to build their own. I have over 25 years of some kind of woodworking under my belt. I was a Framer for 8 years in my younger days and have owned a mobile electronics business for 17 years where I've build more custom sound systems than I can rember. This biz has allowed me to do wood working in some very unconventional ways so I have a tendancy to think out of the box. I've recieved 7 installer of the year awards in the early 90's for my work. My attention to detail comes from that industry. I also have a vast knowledge of all kinds of exotic woods and resources to give those who want to go it on their own. I encourage you to try one. It's very satisfying. I got hooked with a little mini lathe and ended up building my shop and filling it with tools. You just might do the same. I really am here to contribute and enjoy. Now if you don't mind, lets move on to something more constructive. Thanks.

One more thing. As I said before, I'll continue to post my work but it will be in the retailers thread just to keep everyone happy.

Irony?

I was looking at that for a few seconds and suddently realized the irony. That's hillarious.

Why do I hear the faint sounds of "Kumbaya" playing off in the distance... :D

Bill said that he was going to give you a pass, however I am going to point out something you may not know. CP is a self moderated site with no admins only ht one and only owner/admin Rod, Rob, Bob, hell something like that. I have had my a$$ handed to me before for stepping into a discussion I shouldn't have and I stepped back. i am not scolding you or trying ride your a$$ about this but I am trying to help you out here, don't get involved in this any further or I will bet you will have a few people riding your a$$ soon.

Sam

Except that the discussion seemed to take a turn from jabs and nonconstructive comments, to well thought out discussion after my post (whether it was me or the return of rod, they certainly didn't hurt.), so maybe my comments were better said than left unsaid. The "just stay out of it, you're new and don't know anything about it" thing is kinda bunk. We've got everything from teenagers to old men here, so how about we give everyone respect and listen to what everyone has to say with an unbiased ear.

I don't have a dog in this fight, and that doesn't make my views less reasonable, quite the opposite actually.

P.S. I missed the Astros game, but I saw the box score and was pleasantly surprised until I looked at the division standings... but alas, its early in the season.
