New to the cigar world and do not want to start off my new found love with a bad online dealer.
Where would be the best online dealers to buy my smokes from?
Sorry if this has been answered.

Cigars International is not bad. Large selection, decent prices.

Try the Newbie Samplers thread here at CP. It's an excellent way to meet some folks and try out some new cigars.

Don't restrict yourself to just the "online retailers". There are several trusted dealers who have not been able to invest that much in an online store who will do right by you. Take a look in the Hot Deals forum for posts from good guys like Keystone Raider, Uptown Isy, Hermit11, puffstuff, and several others. I deal with Atlantic Cigars and Famous Cigars a good bit. Since you're new, look to the profiles of the guys mentioned and call them. Each is an experienced tobacconer who can help you make choices.

What he said, I have purchased from just about all listed above and all offer GREAT pricinng and prompt service. I would include Norcal_Mark
over at Tower Cigars another stand up guy with good deals. Him and I have no affliation, just fellow Northerners.

I like Atlantic, cigarbid.com(the Cigars International auction site),
and Famous. Holts is very good, and JR is OK. I avoid Thompson.

There are some great deals offered by members of this site, and
others. As you find your way around, and meet other BOTLs online,
your horizon will expand.

Enjoy your new hobby.

I second NorCal_Mark and Tower. Awesome deals there, and you'll have your cigars before you even miss the money.

Silo Cigars is a member here and has great "boutique brand" stuff. Jack Schwartz has excellent service and great "high end & HTF" smokes. Atlantic and Serious have both been very, very good to me as well.

So a new guy comes along and we just throw out "Best 3 online vendors"?

I've purchased from several of the B&M's on this board and , I must
say, they are "Good - To - Go"

I also like to buy from Cigar bid. As long as you know what price point
you can get the same product for, from other dealers and you stay below
this, you can get some great deals. I just got this...

Journey to Chateau de la Fuente
Fuente OpusX Aged Selection - 4 Cigars

for $106.00 from C-Bid. So, bid but, bid wisley.

Looks to me like folks are steering him to members here. Do you not want Isy, Mark, Al, Jim, etc. to get new business?

Edit: Forgot the point of the thread and responses . . . use the folks here . . . they are the best!!

By all means I want them to get business, but that's not my issue. People have to put in their dues, before they'll get any handouts from me.

I have to agree with Tom and it's ridiculous.

X2

Nothing against the newbie, he didn't know. But it dilutes the "family" environment when the kingdom is open to any who ask.

Out of curiosity, would it be a terrible idea to sticky the trusted members who are also vendors? Or would that put the vendors who pay for their advertising at a disadvantage? I guess I would argue that the members/vendors have contributed quite a bit here. Just a thought.

Brandon, I understand your position and others, like Bruce, obviously take an opposite one. I've been here the first half of this year now and the "entitlement" comments appear to be a recurring theme with some of the more tenured members. I'm sure I've done/said a lot to irritate folks, but I just wonder what it is exactly that a new member must do to put in their "dues?"

Let's use this thread as an example. A new smoker, as I was 6 months ago, wants to try as many cigars as possible . . . he's found a new obsession. He goes online and finds a board where people talk about cigars. He obviously sees numerous internet sites from which he can purchase cigars. He then notes that some of these sites run in banners across the top of this new cigar forum he has found. He looks around, reads the rules, posts an introduction and fills out his profile. He then makes a post asking what the preferred online vendors (of NC cigars) are and apologizes in his post if the answer has been given already. A couple of older members come on and point him to board members who take care of the community.

Where exactly is there an "entitlement" expectation? I don't see it from the original poster, so is it ridiculous that Bruce and others answered him?

Also, at what point are "dues" fulfilled and by what actions?

This post is not intended as a flame or an attack. These type themes and statements seem to be a source of animosity for the whole board. Maybe if we talk it out the newer guys (like me) will understand the logic behind those type statements.

FOG or FNG, I believe in PIF.

Does it "cost" you anything to be a helpful Lad? ???

I purchase my Davidoff cigars from www.ewbrokers.com. Good service and good prices. They sell Elie Bleu humidors too

Dulaney22 presented a fair question and did it in a very professional way, I think it best to allow the more senior members to guide us newbies from there.

Why not give him your vendors for Habanos as well? I mean if he asks, why not right, no matter how long it's taken you to get those contacts.

I think someone who joined up on 6/28 and asks this question, is really only concerned about finding those sources. If he sticks around and contributes to this forum, then he's proven me wrong. I'll be more then happy to admit my "jump to conclusion" and man up. I highly doubt it will work out that way.

I don't fault Bruce or anyone else, for pointing him in a direction, that's their choice but I won't do it. This has now become a "want it now" environment and it's unfortunate. Dues are paid, IMO, when someone actually sticks around and contributes. I don't care about bombs or look at what I have or any of that other nonsense. When it all boils down, what are you really giving back to CP? If you're sitting on the BST threads waiting for good deals, sending out bombs expecting something back or straight up asking for vendors that have taken guys years to find, that it not what it's about.

I've now been here 5 years and love this place. If I don't voice my opinion on the way things go, I'm letting myself down.

People ignore the more senior members these days, its the way to be.

thulotvincent: Both of your posts (ever) are shilling. How are you involved with ewbrokers.com?
