4 years at CP

They both have stacked humbuckers?

or

They are both 6 stringed bass guitars?

All I could come up with at the moment...

Aside from faux pearl inlays... :D

Could it be the some abnormally long scale length, maybe 25 1/2"?

Fish
LOL! Spoken like a Gibson purist... And these both have real MOP inlays. :p

Both guitars are 20-21 years old?

Charvel 750XL Professional 1988-89
Carvin DC200 1988-89

Happy anniversary!

Good eye! They have been correctly ID'd, and there is something else they have in common I'm looking for.

Lol, I got nothing. I named the guitars.
Umm.. they are both made of maple. They both had a design change the next year?

It has to be something personal because I googled it and couldn't find anything.

Good luck Everyone!

They both have the Carvin neck-thru design, where the neck wood ran the entire length of the guitar, with body "wings" glued on the side........

or not....

Congrats on your anniversary!!

First of off Amazing guitars!

There is quite a bit of history and people trying to find the Charvel.

My guess is they both have a fixed bridge.

BTW, what's an Asian doing playing the electric guitar? I thought we were only allowed to play piano or violin. Leave it to you to blaze a trail. :)

Congratulations on your CigarPass anniversary Elliott! As far as the contest is concerned, the only thing i can come up with is they were both owned by the same person who gifted them to you. It would be cool to to see you play them, i can see it now, the new Asian Rock Star. Go for it bro!

You can't play either of them.
Half true, since I don't own the Charvel. On second thought, my playing is so bad, that was a true statement...

I will say they're both neck-through solid body designs?
Only the Carvin is neck-through. The Charvel is a set neck.

Both have locking nuts and a Floyd Rose (or imitation) Floating Tremolo bridge.
Correct, but not what I'm looking for.

Nope, these are standard humbuckers and they aren't basses.

The Carvin is maple. The Charvel is mahogany with a maple cap.

While many folks chase the elusive 750xl, the strat-bodied DC200 is much rarer. Both of these have floating bridges.

.....ummmm both were made in Japan?
The Charvel was made in Japan. The Carvin was made in the USA.

Time for a hint. The guitar below also has this thing in common:

The distinctive shape of this guitar should help with its identification.

Strat? Kind of looks like the body but I don't play guitar.

edited to add. Plus, Sham already posted so much. I'll go back in my hole.

And Congrats!

All I can think of now are:

They have the same headstock shape (reveresed on the ESP)

Straight headstock (fretboard and headstock are on the same plane)

Double florentine cutaway body

"Shoulder" on the body is bevelled for comfort?

Oh, and congrats on the CP milestone!!

extended top horn for balance while standing.

I have no idea really curious to the answer.
How about you cant play stairway to heaven on a fender style guitar.
