Kirkland Spirits (Costco)

So living in Utah for decades before relocating to gods country (North Dakota) I’ve always been jealous of yous guys that live in states where Costco sells liquor. Though it’s about 80 miles away I finally bit the bullet and got membership in Fargo. What currently available Kirkland spirits are you loving? On my first trip yesterday I picked up their XO Cognac & 20 year Rum. Hope they’re good but couldn’t resist the low cost. Especially curious if any of their whisky’s and tequilas are bar worthy.
 
My Costco has a 1.75 of four roses for 30 bucks. It's nothing special but it's great for the price for making old fashioneds or whiskey cokes. Their beer rotation has some good buys once in a while. Picked up a 1.75 of vodka for dirt cheap to make a mass batch of pre-made bloody mary's for football season. A lot of their stuff is on par or a buck cheaper than total wine prices
 
A little research on the web will tell you a fair amount about who makes some Kirkland brand liquors. They have a Irish cream that's great for whatever you use it for. And there limited release scotches are usually very good. That's the extent of my kirk knowledge. Oh, there tawney port is pretty tasty too.

Agreed. Four Roses basic bourbon blend is legit and that's a great price; don't get me wrong it can't compete with a $200+ bourbon, but it's not meant to be that. And I often hear from others how great they think the Kirkland vodka is (and cheap).

Kirkland Canadian Whiskey and Kirkland Signature Vodka. Plus their prices and variety of name brands is outstanding.

Costco doesn't sell liquor in OK either. Ridiculous, when I see all the other Costco and the deals people get on bourbons.
 
Every Kirkland scotch that I have tried has been very good. The Kirkland Vodka is a staple in our house, along with the Kirkland blended Whiskey. The Kirkland Canadian Whiskey to me tastes like a combination of Crown Royal and Canadian Club.

I haven't tried the tequila from Kirkland, as I haven't heard a lot of good things about it.

I’m a bourbon guy and agree with the above opinions on the brown booze but prefer to purchase Woodfords Reserve but my wife keeps their reposado taquila, french vodka and the dry gin for mixed mixed drinks and says they are all a quality product.
 
Our local Costco ( which is within a 10 minute walk from me ) does not sell liquor.... but if Imwant to drive 14 miles to a different city, guess who sells booze. Our city fathers choose to keep us dry ( asshats ). The Irish Crème is decent specially price wise. AMd a side note, at least in our locality, the gas price is over $.20 lower than local,gas's pricing and has been "good" gas.
 
Hell, Oklahoma is always late to the party. No grocery/convenience stores can sell liquor. In 2017, we just passed a law where liquor stores could be open on Sundays, but it's up to each county. Only 13 of the 77 counties currently allow liquor stores to be open on Sundays.

The entire state liquor stores, are all closed on Holidays.

No liquor anywhere but liquor stores here either.
 
In CT, there is a price floor on all booze, so Costco price's are in line with the big box stores like Total Wine. Every now and then you find a unicorn like a few months ago they had Lagavulin Offerman Edition Caribbean Cask for $59. A friend who owns a liquor store in Jersey said he couldn't get it wholesale for that price. Every merchant in CT could have sold it for this price, but nobody else did.

Also in our state, Costco liquor stores, by law, are also open to non-members.

As far as Kirkland's branded booze, I really liked the Islay Single Malt especially at $30 a bottle. It wasn't Laphroaig, but it was a more than decent dram for that price. I also found it easier to cook with at that pricepoint. (Makes a hell of a steak marinade.) I tried the Highland Single Malt at the same price but did not care for it at all.

I typically buy a 1.75 ml of the Kirkland Irish Cream for $17 which is just an insane price even compared to the regular Bailey's knock-offs (Carolan's, Michael's, Riley's) which all go for around $15-$20 for a 750 ml.
 
Ive been a member of Costco Sams and BJs for many years now. Sams back to the mid 90s so I see the whole picture.

I can count on my hand, and have a finger or two left over to pick my nose, the items I have purchased at Costco and I was disappointed in. Costco goes above and beyond to sell quality items, and that goes into the booze and wine they sell. There was a video I watched maybe on TV where they followed around the person who sources the wine they sell. They fly all over the world and are picky.

Sadly ours doesnt sell per state law. They sell beer and wine in VA and beer wine and booze in DC and DE but Im not going there to save a buck unless Im in the vicinity for something else. But we have a couple Total Wines that fits the bill.

On the other side of the horizon a bit is retirement and I wont move to a place that doesnt have a Costco. Sorry WY lol. That sounds super weird but we buy a ton of food and everyday items from them.
