    How to Season a Humidor

I definitely soaked it more than a light wiping which is what I wanted to get across, but there weren't puddles of water sitting in it either. I literally got it as wet as the wood would hold without having the water dripping and pooling. I guess I'll let it sit for a couple days before I do...

    How to Season a Humidor

I'm surprised there isn't a sticky for this, and the search didn't turn up any posts that describe the process, but I have a quick question regarding it. My humi has had trouble maintaining RH for a year now and I finally am deciding to reseason it. I took everything out, SOAKED every inside...

    I Spoke to Soon

I had no idea that maintaining a different RH with the beads reconditions them. That is a good thing for me, I'm kinda glad!

    I Spoke to Soon

Interesting topic... I've had a continuing problem with my beads ever since I got my humi last year. I have the tall puck and I can't maintain humidity for the life of me! To keep the humidity at ~65% with my 70% beads I usually keep a small shot glass of open distilled water, along with...

    Humidipucks

To season the humi, I wiped down all the cedar with a sponge/distilled water to dampen it, and left an open container of distilled water in for the entire time. I have two hygrometers that measure the exact same thing. I should calibrate them, I suppose, but the analog and the digital measure...

    Humidipucks

Yeah, I hope I do get it under control. I guess if they are that reliable there must be something else wrong. The first humi I spoke is brand new, only used with the humidipuck, for about 2 months now, maybe more. I'm just disappointed that it won't hit 70%. I can't imagine that the seal is...

    Humidipucks

For those of you using the humidipuck, are you having good results? Mine haven't been working so good... I have three 70% RH ones now. 2 tall and one short. I have one large in a humi that is about 10" x 12" x 6" that is new and has a good seal. It was seasoned for 30 hours or so, and was...

    ISO = ISOM?

Sorry, I know this is a stupid question, but is ISO an abbreviation of ISOM? I figured out what ISOM is, but now I only see ISO and never see ISOM. Does ISO mean ISOM just an eliminated M?

    A bad taste...

Thanks for all the replies. I thought someone would say something crazy like eating peanut butter and suddenly it is gone, but just as I suspected, I'm more or less stuck with it. That's ok though, she doesn't mind that much, I just figured if there was something easy I could do to hear less...

    A bad taste...

My g/f hates my breath/kissing me after I have had a cigar. She thinks it's gross... As you all know that taste lingers for a while, which I don't particularly mind, but, of course, she does. So, has anyone found anything that works to remove the taste/clean up the breath? I've tried...

    Recommend me a smoke please

This is probably a crime posting this in this forum, but my g/f doesn't particularly care for your typical NC (even the expensive as well) and hasn't had the pleasure of trying an ISOM, but she did really like backwoods sweet and milds. I guess she likes the sweeter flavor. Not that you...

    Covering humidifier

It actually has a glass top, so I can't really do that :) It isn't causing a problem, I just looked at it and realize I could probably fit 5-10 more cigars in if I were to cover it up.

    liked it so much...I hurled.

My first real cigar ever did this to me. I couldn't believe I paid (what I thought at the time) so much for it, a whopping $7 or so for a Camacho SLR. Well I figured I was going to get my money's worth and smoked that thing nearly until my fingers burned and was insanely sick after...

    Humidor Troubleshooting

That's all I did. I am a complete newbie but read online when I got my humi last week. I wiped down the walls with a paper towel with distilled water, since I didn't have a sponge, added a pretty big vat of distilled water, my 70% RH tall humidipuck, and digital hygro. It went up to about 78%...

best way to lower the humidity?

Definitely calibrate it. The analog that came with my humi is off by +12% minimum. I trust my digital much more, the analog is worthless.

    Covering humidifier

I just finished setting up my new humi, but I currently have the humidifier (the 70% tall humidipuck) sectioned off with no cigars really near it. Is this necessary or can I put cigars right on it and bury it at the bottom? Does it need some "breathing room" or?
