How to lower the RH of the humidor below ambient?

I got the Eva-Dry and it's working! The RH is down about 3% already after a couple days.  Nice and slow is good so nothing cracks!  Thanks for the heads up.

How to lower the RH of the humidor below ambient?

Hey all,   OK, I used litter (hair dried) and it didn't make a bit of difference.  Maybe I need to use more..?   I can't use the AC too much as it would lower the temp too much for the kids.  I need a humi localized solution. The RH in the humi is 75%!  Not good.  I can move the humi upstairs...

    Padron #2 1926 Natural

UPDATE: So, I just had the same cigar only this time dry boxed for a short time and I used a cheap V cutter (nervously). What a difference! The spice was greatly tamed, the smoke volume was copious and the overall experience was a very enjoyable mellow one. The cigar didnt get a build up of...

How to lower the RH of the humidor below ambient?

I'm using an old Padron box and have moved it up from the basement to the bedroom where the temp is 74 degrees.  I'll be testing it out with the smoke tomorrow evening which will account for two days worth of 'dry boxing'.   Will update with hopefully a positive review...   thanks for the help...

How to lower the RH of the humidor below ambient?

hmm... I hadn't considered AC.  The humi is in the basement where it's naturally cooler and I've got the AC blocked off at the vents.  I'll also give the hair dryer a go and take out the Boveda's to see if it works out.  I'm thinking of setting up a dry-box tupperdor and so might put the silica...

Grandiloquent perhaps... I shy away from long words lest I misspell them...   ???

How to lower the RH of the humidor below ambient?

How does this - lower - the current RH level? I don't need to add RH as the ambient RH is higher than what I want.

Thanks! Please forgive my pomposity, but in a world where "whatever" passes for the full spectrum of emotional expression of 90% of the population I let loose with the cigar reviews...

How to lower the RH of the humidor below ambient?

65%. I have 57 cigars in a 75 cigar humidor (it's almost full, the 75 number is hopeful...). I'm using two 65% Boveda packs and a small credo box filled with silica (cat litter).Ambinet humidity is about 70%

How to lower the RH of the humidor below ambient?

Hello all,   I've read recently about the practice of dry-boxing a cigar a few days before smoking - at about 55%.  Problem is, I don't have an electronic humi and Bovenda's onlu go to 62%.  I'm in SE PA and it's more humid than an overly caffinated wrestler's armpit in mid-fake-rant...  ...

    Padron #2 1926 Natural

Muy caliente!   And I'm not talking just about the weather folks! This blasted heat and humidity has wreaked havoc on my smoking but I've had a box of these waiting for me since Monday and so this evening I braved the elements and sparked up.   White pepper, full, rounded flavour of spice...

    Padron 1926 Serie #9 Natural

Gentlemen, I'm very pleased and grateful for the warm reception my review's received. I hope to push the envelope further later today when I have my first Padron '64 Torpedo Maduro. If the wife's not looking, I may even sneak in a Camacho as well just to over-achieve...   It's funny that my...

    Padron 1926 Serie #9 Natural

Well, this is a poor man's review as I'm writing from memory and therefore have no pics to post.  Apologies but I wanted to contribute at least something to this site...   The Scene: Sitting on the top floor of a cigar bar in Montreal on Crescent St in the late stages of a sunny afternoon is not...

    That nicotine sweat...

OK, I get it, now that you made the naval reference... Yo ho ho and all that.  I hope it was good for both of you...

    That nicotine sweat...

I'm not getting the joke on the ashes being hauled but I'm glad to be the benefactor of the sweetness! I'm taking this (and the fact that I sneaked in a cigar during my lunch without any shakes, shivers or arrests) as a very auspicious sign.

    That nicotine sweat...

I would hate to read about me too, especially as I have my best work ahead of me and said reading would be very dull as a result.  I'm English raised so using words such as 'odd' is pretty normal.  I meant to describe the sweat as 'odd' in that I've not had a sweat reaction to cigars before...

    That nicotine sweat...

I had had a good sized dinner about 60 mins before hand.  I think the over humidified cigar is probably the best answer because what had prompted my calling Padron was a strong nicotine taste at the end of the smoke when I had smoked my first couple of #2s.  That was when Jeff @ Padron told me...

    That nicotine sweat...

OK, the intro section has been visited...   I was smoking outside, it was a humid evening but about 5 mins after it started to downpour and the evening cooled is when I got the sweats... I wouldn't say the cigar was plugged, just that the usual open draw wasn't there.  I remember now cutting a...
