For once, knowledge is making me poor!
Having only a month under my belt, I thought I would write a review of my time here at CP.
I have been active on several special interest forums over the years, my better half says I am obsessive………but what does she know. :whistling:
I bought a Mini Cooper just for fun (but be honest, what guy doesn’t want to drive a 150 HP go cart made by BMW) and have been active on that forum.
I own a 79 F-150, fully restored, and have been active there as well.
I collect guns and have been active in some related forums also.
You get the point.
I don’t know how many members there are here in total but I am sure it is a large number and widely geographically dispersed. I am sure the membership here is made up of people from all walks of life and includes everything from salt of the earth types to some real dipshits. But the difference I have seen in this brotherhood is that seldom is the baggage, which we all have, brought into the sanctity of this forum.
There are members who obviously compose their responses based on who created the topic and their relative position in the hierarchy. A topic created by an established member will draw totally different responses than the identical words created by a newbie; just one of the subtle nuances of an overall outstanding forum I guess.
As strange as it may seem, this forum exudes camaraderie, brotherhood, and genuine care and concern for fellow BOTL and SOTL. Pretty significant accomplishment over the internet, don’t you think?
Now, I know that many of you have met numerous times and have come to know families and made true friends but I am talking about the fact that people who I have never met take the time to give me good advice, send me nice cigars, and in general “pay it forward”.
The concept of “paying it forward”, and not just with material things such as cigars, but with genuine fellowship is truly outstanding in today’s society of “take what you can get and run”!
Kudos to Rod and any others involved in starting and maintaining a community that flies in the face of the above mentioned society!
I think I’ll stick around.
