I was recently gifted a cigar from a proprietor of a local B&M and I never had a chance to ask what it was exactly so I am stumped! Anyone familiar with this?

I can't remember the name, but it's super rare. I think the value is around $800. :)

The LL stands for Lucky Lady. This was a DR puro that President Clinton had specially made for his Oval office dates. Only 200 were produced. The cello is not yellow so I assume Bill did not get to use this one yet....

edit: The wrapper is a Cuntneticut

But the cello IS yellow! Nice!

Here is what Mark (NorcalMark) provided via PM:

"It looks like an old LFD Dominicana Maceo. Before the La Flor Dominican became La Flor Dominican they were called Los Libertadores(sp?)

Must be from the early 90's. 92 is when I first seen them."

I searched but still have not gotten anything conclusive.

OK, I found this - http://bloglaflor.vitacora.com/?cat=6&paged=3

Scroll about 2/3 of the way down and you will read:
Los Libertadores, a cigarmaker in the Dominican Republic, offered Gomez a position as the manager of its manufacturing factory in 1994, and he accepted. He had enjoyed smoking cigars in the past, and although he had no history in tobacco, he had always had a great deal of respect for the industry. He saw in this venture a means of finding a new beginning, a new life. Gomez and Lorenzo entered into a partnership with Los Libertadores in early 1994 with the intent of producing high-quality cigars. But the couple soon learned that their partners were more interested in entering the high-volume market of cheaper cigars rather than the premium market that they had envisioned. A serious rift developed that proved irreconcilable.

then notice the picture just below this.
It shows the logo on your band.

That my Brudder is a Los Libradores (SP?) They went out of production early to mid 90's when one of the partners got it in his head that he wanted to make a different cigar profile...now called La Flor Dominicana. I smoked the last of mine in late 06 but may have one last robusto lurking around the Tower.

edited to add: I started typing this before the previous post but answered some annoying :whistling:  customer's question instead of finishing the post. That'll teach me to provide customer service! :sign: :0

I know it wasn't pinched from my stash as I remove the cello. Current B&M owner? Now you have me scrambling as some of the earlier LLs were quite tasty. My goto cigar in those days was Fonseca 5-50 so the LLs were hanging with that crowd.

I was close! 94 sounds about right. I just remember starting work with my father in 1992 and seeing things then that I don't see now.

My mind is like a steel trap, it's rusty but it's steel!
