Years ago, when I worked at a butcher shop, we had an old man who came in for breakfast every morning before going to Belmont or Aqueduct. Sometimes he had tips for us. He usually hit.Anyway... anyone besides my good friend @SKYDIVNEKD like to wager on the ponies?
He called us one day with a tip. Said to put as much as we could on it. It was less than 10 min to post. Thankfully my boss had a camaro with a lot of work done. I was able to get to OTB in plenty of time, running $10 win tix until until post time, to avoid taxes. We did very well.
Belmont has a family Sunday promotion. They have bounce houses and games and stuff for the kids. Pony rides, of course. When I lived near the track, I'd take my son down sometimes. It was maybe $10 total for parking and admission to the grounds. I could bring whatever food and drink I wanted (no glass was the only restriction), and had a nice day out with the family. Most Sundays, especially toward the end of the card, we could walk right up to the rail and watch as the horses ran past to finish the race.
