Beer substitutes for weight loss.

That mean you're out of the Wednesday night? I'll be down to one beer a week starting next week. Gotta get ready for my backup plan.

Im still coming James! Just no beer.. =[ I might just buy the glasses though! lol

Hello Gentlemen!

Well Its about that time! I need to lose weight (again). I have to cut drinking beer but I need a good alcoholic beverage complement my cigars! What do yall think I can replace beer with that is low in calories? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Regards

Edited for grammar mistake.
You can't beat water for helping to lose weight! Maybe try seltzer if you enjoy the carbonation. I realize you are looking for an alcoholic option, but they all contain extra calories that are counterproductive for weight loss. Best of luck on reaching your goals!

Like JR said, portion control is huge. Use a smaller plate at dinner time. Eat small healthy snacks in between meals. Throw some exercise in there and u ate good to go.

The South Beach Diet recommends beer drinkers switch to Scotch, as it's apparently one of the lowest carb alcoholic beverages going. I'm not on the diet anymore (it does work, btw) but I'm still following that recommendation! :D

All my meals fit either on the 6" bread plate, or in the case of things like pasta dishes and stir fries, the soup bowl. I'm on Synthroid, though, so my diet's a lot more calorie-restricted than most people's.

Walking is the best cardio there is IMHO. Not hard on the joints, doesn't necessarily require any special gear, and can be easily worked into daily routines.

Find errands you can walk to while the weather is cool. The summer is when you have to make time(early or late) so the heat doesn't kill you or you have to resort to a treadmill.

Worse case, if it gets you outside... it could lead to other forms of cardio...

Try mojitos but instead of simple syrup and club soda try using sprite zero that will help keep the calories down. But like others have said portion control is the key.

I usually stick to vodka and rose's sweetened lime juice. Maybe squeeze in a little real lime. Getting rid of beer in your diet is the best idea or just stick to mich ultra. However, drinking a 12 pack of ultra isn't going to help you either so if you crave beer, just maybe treat yourself to 1 every other day.

A nice cup of coffee goes well with a cigar. I have heard legends of certain Texans drinking diet slice though I haven't seen it for myself.

Beer is what got me fat...more specifically the carbs. An average night for me was 20+ drinks...do that a few times a week and you're really screwed.

With the diet I'm on, I learned not that carbs are your enemy...but you need to choose how you consume them wisely. Therefore, I'm now a Whiskey and Diet Coke man. Best change I ever made

Like Jake has said. To me its all about self control!

Good luck!

I like vodka

What I usually do with respect to Carbs is I strive for 0 carb intake per day. Of course this is pretty much unacheivable unless you don't eat lol. What it gives me though is a little bit of slack when I do take in carbs. Moderation is the key.

For instance, if I go to a restaurant and they bring out the "free" bread, I tell them to take it back. If I get some french fries with my meal, I might eat a couple of those but definitely not all of them. If I just said screw it and ate the bread and all the fries I would be way over my goal of 0 carbs for the day, but if thats all I ate all day that had carbs, it probably wouldn't destroy my diet.

Lots of lean meats and proteins. One carb item per meal. Moderate snacking. Down 65lbs since Nov 17th and won't be looking back.

I'm with Jake and Mr. Holmes. I took off almost 60 pounds a couple of years ago. Beer was and still is my weakness. During this period I lways fell back on Vodka and Diet Tonic Water if I wanted something alcoholic. The diet taste wasn't that appealing at first, but using the lime flavored and squeezing some extra fresh lime juice really made them quite good and refreshing. Once I hit my target weight I went back to beer and the good larger portion size food with a little sensibility/moderation. As long as I kept exercising I didn't gain or lose weight, just maintained.

Pussy....while an acquired taste, will make a great substitute for drinking beer...especially while smoking a cigar!

The hardest part is getting them used to the smoke so the don't scratch your lap if they're not declawed. Petting them as you puff will stop you from going to the fridge to grab a beer.

But like I said, definitely an acquired taste, it took me some time to get used to this...I was always a 'dog guy'.
