So, tomorrow is B.B.S.'s birthday and I came home to a wife who loves me, a warm, dry house, a secure future, and it got to me more than a little. I retired to the deck with a Padron 26, a great bourbon on ice, and a dinner in the oven that smells better than I can describe. I have so much, it's hard to wish for more.
I've had a great life; been down many interesting roads, had struggles, trials, setbacks, and guess what...I can't imagine being happier than I am right now.
I thank God for the luck and fortune that's been bestowed on me. Sure, we've worked our butts off but we've got some traction along the way and frankly I don't "worry" day to day about most things. I hope the folks that read this don't think I'm bragging but it's hard not to reflect on the luck and fortune I've been given. My parents were very much blue collar folks but they showed us all what love and hard work could attain. The material stuff is really cool, but in the grand scheme of things, it's the "frosting on the cake" and not what it's all about.
I'm blessed with a wife that loves me, the respect and appreciation of my peers at work, a job thats challenging and rewarding, and two kids that see what their dad has done and try to emulate (let's leave the "questionable events" out, OK..??....
).
The friends I've made through this board only mirror my luck and fortune; good folks that share in the love of life, and the shared appreciation of the good things.
Thanks, one and all...I'm a working guy that has much to be so very, very thankful for.
The very best regards - B.B.S.
