Steve @Eqwhipped will be creating a new thread soon but in the meantime, here is a little info. If my memory serves me, here are a few facts from when Steve brought the bottle over to my place. These are all things Steve will have to clarify.
  • Everything they make is single barrel, barrel proof.
  • They do not distribute.
  • They do not mass-produce.
  • It seems to be run in a family-type environment.
  • Steve and I will get to pick the barrel we want.

@Rod Rod, if this happens, we will need to chat to address any legal issues and your input on the label.

Ooof, just got the details, I'm out. I'm not that much of a bourbon fan, those prices are for scotch for me. You guys have fun, will follow this with interest!

Hello Folks,

Things have been busy on my end sorry I couldn't respond sooner.
So here is the skinny, we can pick any barrel on the premises age statements range from 5 to 10 years old.
They have a variety of wheated, Rye and traditional bourbons.
The cost is minimum 100 bottles.
Its $16 per year per bottle
6yr barrel will yield (give or take 15 bottles) about 200 bottles
6x16x200= $19,200 (plus KY state tax)
MIN ORDER 100 for barrel pick program $9,600 plus tax

I have heard cost can be as low as $72 a bottle, but I'm still trying to get more details on the price gap.

Comes out to $96 a bottle. If you went to the distillery and purchased them individually hand thiefed they run about 150 a bottle.

I paid $75 for my pint, it was worth every penny!

Hanna at the distillery has spoke with me a couple of times and explained the way the barrel pick program works.
First the folks interested in the barrel pick will show a preference to what type of grain bill we want.
Then they will pull the barrels close to that, from there we get to hand thief directly from the barrel and taste them.
Once we pick what bourbon we love we meet with the label designer and they send our label to the Feds for approval.
Once the label is federally approved they hand bottle every drop, write in the grain bill and proof.

After they case them up they can be shipped or picked up at the distillery.

I have never had a bourbon I felt was worth buying a barrel until I tried the Whiskey Thief, the amount of personal care they give every barrel is just incredible. The process is done on such a small scale everything is done by hand, I have had many micro-distilled bourbons and this is to date the best I have had.

We are slowly creeping up toward the 100 bottle minimum.

Steve has had a death in the family and will check back in when he can.

I dont drink a lot of bourbon and I am a bit of a newbie but I am finding that, just like cigars, good bourbon is worth the extra money. When Steve shared his pint with me, I was blown away!

If/when we get this going, we will figure out the money. I use Venmo and Zelle, Steve can let us know what he uses.
