HONOLULU -- A freak accident in a parking lot on King Street left many people perplexed and a speeding Lexus on top of another car.
How the Lexus ended up atop another car seemed hard to describe with words for many of the witnesses.
Police said an 80-year-old woman driving the Lexus had slowed to pick up a friend, then suddenly accelerated.
Witness accounts vary wildly. Some said the driver was going 40 mph, others said 70 mph. What is clear: she was going fast enough that a Dumpster, a wall and another car weren't enough to stop her.
The loaded dumpster flipped, spewing a weekend's worth of trash. A destroyed tile wall catapulted the Lexus onto a gold sedan, which was pushed across the parking lot onto a Volvo.
Police said the driver was treated for minor injuries, and no one else was injured. The incident left seven vehicles damaged.
