Hehehe Your right CC, you nailed it perfectly.
The polls are the human element to the BCS ranking and I know everyone in the world feels there team always gets slighted, but it does happen. USC is being all fawned over and mourned because 1. University of Southern California and 2. They do have a long tradition of winning and get a benifit of doubt because of that tradition either conciously or unconciously. The way you break it down though CC is absolutly right, it worked out correct after all.
As far as the winning tradition goes towords giving them an edge, this is true and I'll sight a couple examples. Most recent, TCU. Strength of schedule was not TCU's friend this year, but if Nebraska or Miami, or USC had a similarly easy schedule they would have still been at number 1 with the other undefeated teams instead of down below teams with one or two losses. My Cats are another example. They won one game just barely in 88 I think it was, but as soon as Snyder arrived they instantly started winning. Even with all the wins though and in a tough conference to boot, they still couldn't get anywhere in the polls for at least a couple years if not more. The polls are a human element to the BCS and will allways be somewhat imperfect. That imperfection was what drove people to the BCS system in first place after all.
