How hard can it be to find a joint that allows cigar smoking, has good single malts and some live music... Or at least 2 of the 3. :D

In Connecticut? Nearly impossible if you are not at one of the casinos. A bunch of us here attended a cigar dinner at Black Eyed Sally's in Hartford this past summer, but the restaurant owner had to close his doors to the public for the evening in order to circumvent the smoking ban.

Clarify: Black Eyed's is actually closed on Monday's..so it was easy to have it be a 'private' party.

AND there may be another this winter!

Hadn't heard that! I'll be there!

Just confirmed - no Black Eyed's this year!

Well that just sucks.

Well, since everyone is in the mood to Herf, all of you that havn't said that you were coming to the November 11th event at Schlesinger's might as well carpool on over here to New Windsor, NY and partake....... :D  :p

Casino herf?
Bill would show up then! :p

-Rob

Edit to say...
I'm sure everyone is trying for Schlesinger's but a casino herf sounds great too!

In an exhaustive search I am sorry to say we have come up empty. Damn smoking laws.

We do have a place in Hartford where we can meet one evening or Saturday late. Or, this can migrate from a northwestern CT HERF to a Casino HERF (I promise to host a BBQ HERF at Mohawk State Park when the weather gets nice again). Thoughts from the folks here?

Foxwoods in early December anyone?

Let me look at this one. The Excutive Cigar Shop on Rt 25 in Stepney (Monroe about 10 miles off Rt 25). I'll ask what they offer and if they will host anything. They always show golf in the afternoon, and have a nice room for about a dozen folks give or take a few. \

BTW I will be missing the Nov 11 Schelessingers event and am saddened. Deeply

I'd be interested in a BBQ herf next year. Keep me posted.

First the bad news, seems the Jazz place does not allow smoking. We will call this a case of happy ears from my source and I will apologize for getting everyones hopes up, including my own.

I am working out the details for an informal event somewhere else. One of the local cigar shops (Buttheads of Danbury) is interested in helping us with a get together. I am going down there on Monday to see what they think. Details to come on what I can pull together.

Thanks to everyone who posted and PM'd their interest. I'll find us a place. How hard can it be to find a joint that allows cigar smoking, has good single malts and some live music... Or at least 2 of the 3. :D

Molly Darcy's in Danbury has a good patio for such things, weather permitting.
It's right near Westconn, well worth the drive. I recommend the Bangers n Mash with a Smithwicks
I'd also be down to meet up for a get together.

I like the idea of the GW but that would have to wait until next spring. :(
HEY, I completely forgot I said this! :D

What say any of you for cigars at the GW Tavern in Washington Depot? I can pretty much make any day you pick.

I would be up for that, but this weekend is out. Celebrating No. 1 daughter's birthday in Philly. Is there a patio for smoking or is that allowed in the bar?

It's a fairly large outside patio that has a tent cover. No smoking is allowed inside the bar. The food at the GW is VERY good!

Let's make this happen! My schedule pretty much always sucks, will start sucking worse shortly, and I travel two out of three weekends. If I can make it work, though...I would love to meet up with some old friends and new smoking buddies.

<cough> understatement <cough cough>

I'm up for a run out that way.

Also - We could always do some thing in the evening at my club.
