Converting my walk-in into a wine cellar.

Holy crap that was one hell of a collection! Enough cigars for a few lifetimes. The conversation looks amazing. Now you have me eyeing a few spots in the house where I could do something similar. Not good.
 
That is beautiful!  Glad to see things coming along.  Hope all is well and thanks for alittle cigar/wineporn to start the day.

Absolutely beautiful conversion. And when you start to run out of space again, looks like there's room for more shelves.

Living in South Texas, I'd love to know a little more about your Peltier unit . . . I have a small (4' X 4') walk in closet in my office I've long dreamed of turning into a walk in humidor (with some wine and Scotch storage).  My choices are running a drop from the house A/C (much cheaper, but messes with humidity levels) or something like that.

Boar, I picked this unit off eBay and it came from China. Darn thing took about 4 weeks to get here. My neighbor and I went to a small electronic supply store to purchase a power cord for it. He then built the frame around it to make it look nice. The good thing with these is that if you cross the wires, it becomes a heating unit. To be honest I use it more in the winter to supplement the heat. I really don't like it to hot in the winter. In the summer, my AC is anywhere between 65-70 and the humi remains at about 67 degrees consistently. 
 
Another thing to consider is the size of the area that you are trying to heat or cool as you may need a bigger unit. They do sell better quality ones here in the states but are really pricey. Here are some close up pics. We also added a drip pan as it does condensate.

Josh, nothing to pricey. I do enjoy Malbecs, Pinots, Merlot and Chianti's. Everything there is in about the $20 price range. It's more of a storage thing for me now and not yet into the collection stage (God, please don't let me go there yet.)
 
I plan on replenishing as I go and will go up on price as we go through them. At least that's my plan at the moment. Any recommendations?

Tom, I hope that I don't need any more space brother. It holds about 80 bottles and I can get two additional cases in there but there is space in between the shelves to put some additional ones if need be.
 
 
Thanks for the kinds words everyone. I really do like it. The only thing is that you just get to look at the bottles as oppose to the cigars that you can open, smell and play around with. :(
 
I thought I was in Cuban Lou's warehouse. The conversion is wonderful.
 
Finally filled. Looking to add two more cases of some of my favorites at some point.

We like Apothicaric Red, Gnarly Head and Simi. Give it a shot once your done getting through you Two Buck Chuck collection.
 
Thanks for sharing Kris, looks like it turned out really well!  The best part is that there's plenty of room to play wine tetris someday  :whistling:
