Cuba trip pics

Hi all,

Uploaded a dozen or so pics from my recent trip to Cuba.

Not a lot, as it takes a while to upload on here, but enough for a decent perusal.

Please try to get the feeling of the juxtaposition between my roof top pool and the slums all around it - all next to the Capitol building etc.

It's quite an ephinany (and quite sobering) when you're actually there, over looking the lit-up Capitol building and a roof top slum with pigs and chickens being bred.

Great set of photos. I've never visited Cuba, but it is nice to see that it is in better shape than Caracas. :)

Thanks for sharing the pics. Always nice to see the results of practical socialism, thank goodness their socialists have realized (unlike ours :angry: ) that restricting tobacco is a bad thing! :whistling: :) but then agin they do all have free Healthcare, so maybe I am a bit harsh. :0

Loved the pics. My parents came from Cuba, and for some time, I have wanted to visit their hometowns. I hope to visit some day soon: legally or illegally. It would be really nice to walk the streets that my father once did, especially since he passed away when I was only nine. On another note, I just learned yesterday that my great great grandmother went to Cuba from Ireland. Funny the things you learn when having discussions about Cuba with your relatives. I always thought that my ancestors had strictly come from Spain. Oh well, I guess you truly learn something every day.
 
Wow. Just wow. You have quite the photographer's eye. Great composition and excellent framing. I think my favorite is "Sunset over the slums." Your pictures made me pull out my album of photos from a 1996 trip to China.

As bad as some think, the Dominican republic has some areas that make some of your scenes look upscale. Thanks for sharing, and God bless America.

Great pics, thanks so much for sharing. Is it just me, or does the illuminated capitol building in your first pic resemble a Cohiba band with the yellow, white and black?
