We just found out, that on 4/7/26 our CP brother (aka - Lurch ), and our grandson Michael Garcia, was shot while driving in New Orleans. He retired from the USMC and worked at a pub in the city. The information is not complete, but while driving to visit a friend, he was shot in the head, taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The shooter was captured by police and is in jail. He is famous for his crab boils which he did at the pub, which closed in honor of his death.

Short story; Mike came home on leave from the Marines and has a party we attended. At the time, I had quit smoking for 24 years. While we were there he opens his humi and says " here gramps, try this. ". THAT began my cigar smoking experience, which continues today. He also introduced me to CP.

MIke was a fun in a lite crazy way. He was married and has a daughter now attending University of New Orleans. He served in Iraq. He was 47.

See ya on the other side Lurch, save me something good.

This doesn't seem possible or real Ed! 🥺

I don't understand this world sometimes, and I'm praying for your family! Especially, Joanna and Haylee....

I'll drink a few beers, and smoke a fat one in honor of Michael tonight.

Semper Fi Marine!!! 🫡

Wet sorry for your families loss Ed. I didn’t know him, but he sounded like an amazing person.

Thoughts are with you and your loved ones. I will light something special in his honor this weekend.
