FOCUS GROUP (Free Cigars!!!)

@jmcigars1 same with what Nate said, they came in pretty high in humidity. I let it settle to 68%, then took it out and and went into the dry box for a few days to come down to the 63%-65% range.
I smoked the first one last night.

I don't think the two cigars I received are the same, the smoked the lighter one last night. If they are the same, my eyes are playing tricks on me.
Connecticut wrapper I assume. This cigar was a lot lighter of a cigar than I normally smoke.

Construction: This cigar was rolled very well, I am impressed with the appearance. There was 2 caps, one was really close to the edge but that is pretty typical. I used a v-cut and it worked perfectly.


Pre-draw: On pre-light sniff and draw I didn't pick up many notes. Maybe a little bit of grass, but everyone around me was mowing their lawns so that could be from that.

Light and first 1/3: On first light, grass did start to stick out and some light hay. By the end of the first 3rd the grass was done and mostly hay and a light baking spice. I couldn't put my finger on the flavor but it was pleasant.

Second 3rd: This part continued as the first 3rd. Nothing changed that I noticed. The burn was rock solid. I did get a little turtling but it corrected itself quickly.

Final 3rd: This is where the cigar started to shine for me. During this time the cigar showed it's hand of flavors. There was a rich pepper at the end that I didn't expect. I was impressed and it left me wanting more of that final 3rd.


Final impression: While this cigar was much lighter and calmer than I would normally smoke, the construction and finish left me wanting more. If this was a regular production cigar I probably wouldn't buy it again because of the mildness, but because of the flavors and construction I would certainly explore other offerings from the manf.

I still have one to smoke, I will do that this week and post that also. Thank you very much for the opportunity!

I've come down with a little snot nosed head cold. I was planning on smoking them this last week. For fairness and enjoyabiluty ... I'm going to hold off for a couple more days. Sorry for the delay.

Ok... here goes my take on one of the cigars sent. They both look the same. No markings on the news paper to decern they weren't. The one I dry boxed for 2 days to ready the experience had 2 major soft spots. One at the 1/3 mark and another at the 2/3 mark. Pre light I got slight hay note, not much of anything else. On the light it was very light. Starting fairly flat. Nothing noteable for the first inch. A few retro's produced some light wood/dried hay with zero spice. I'm drinking some twist o lime Topo-Chico. The burn takes a real wonked out burn... I'm thinking those soft air pockets are causing the burn issue. Made it through the burn issue with a burn of the wrapper to even it out.
Starting the 2nd 3rd.
Reaching a bit... but I think I notice a slight toasted bread note. Burning better at the moment. Half way through the cigar I pick up a faint very light nuance of ginger baking spice. Very very light... with the retro it comes across a bit more. Still very mild and light. Mid point of the cigar and it's starting to go lopside with the burn.
Last 3rd.
The cigars burn turned back to kaos and the smoke turned very hot and washed out. At this point I just sat it down. I'm thinking that this cigar was one that got through quality control that probably shouldn't have. Happens to the very best brands out there. I feel that this review is not a standard for the blend as a whole, I'm sorry to have to post this experience. But thankful for the offer to have it.
