Martha & The Vandellas said it best:

Nowhere to run to, baby
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run to, baby
Nowhere to hide

She's the REAL BBMF. I hope that all of you in her path stay safe.

Maybe she'll be like most other women... starts with major huffing and puffing but when it comes down to it, just willows down to a purr. :p

Damn...I hope your right Phishy.
NBC News said that certain neighborhoods down here in Miami should start evacuating. :0

Oh to be in the cross hairs.

Getting ready for the storm. Loaded up on all the critical supplies. My wife is in Georgia and won't get back until this thing runs its course. I stocked up the bar; the igloodor couldn't fit another cigar; fridge and freezer full of food (hope the electricity stays on.

I live about 8 miles inland from the Atlantic at about 12' elevation. When they talk about a 13' storm surge, I translate that to me standing on top of the igloodor.

Tough times in Paradise

Pepe,

Don't forget to close the drain plug. Them coolers float, don't ya know. ;)

Seriously...

We were spared the wrath of Charley where I live. And this one is so much bigger. It looks like we may get some of the strong winds from Frances if the predictions are correct. One even shows the storm coming right over top of us on the Gulf coast.

You guys in the direct path need to get out. There is plenty of time to pack the personal things. The other stuff is just that... stuff. And it is not worth risking your lives over.

I haven't been down to the area where Charley hit, but my wife was. She says you can not even fathom the destruction from what is on the television or in the paper. She was totally awestruck as they went into the area. Mother nature at her toughest.

Prayers sent to all in her path to stay safe.

John

Hope you've got plenty of plywood, tarps, water and food. This one looks like Charley's big sister, and the latest track shows it covering pretty much the entire state. :(

Stay safe down there, all you southern brothers!!

And remember, it's women, children and cigars first!!!

I sure hope she doesn't swallow.

The last updates we got at work..put Frances running over us in Pasco on Sat/Sun....man someone upstairs has it in for Florida.

Well, it looks like she has slowed down a bit but that just means more flooding and the 120 mph winds will stay longer. They are now predicting that it should hit the coast Saturday morning / afternoon. I'm like Peter, Coolidor packed full(plug in :D ) and my 5 desk tops on top of the Coolidor. Got 4 cases of 1 liter bottles of water, 4 - 1 gallon jugs of water and I'm filling up the bath tubs as well. Got 2 cases of beer and the bar next door just got resupplied yesterday. :D Good luck neighbors......

Only two cases?

Slowing down in your old age Charlie? ;) :D :D :D

To all the Florida CP members stay safe.

Yu guys better strap them coolidors to your backs. That way they'll be with you when you land.

Best of luck to all of ya in the path. Prayers sent.

I have a brother in Merritt Island and my folks live in Rockledge. Not as worried about my sisters who live inland mid state. I've been through my share of hurricanes while I was growing up in Florida but this thing scares me.

Note that anything left outside becomes a missle. If you are using plywood to board up make sure you can secure it firmly. I was a baby when Donna nearly wiped Key West off the map. One picture my folks have has always stayed with me...... a 2x4 embed through a brick wall of our home. :0

Gods speed!
