This is actually big news on the networks: http://money.cnn.com/2007/02/09/news/compa...on=money_latest

GM ran an ad during the Super Bowl. It showed a robot who dropped a screw by accident, got fired, and then was so upset he decided to jump off a bridge into the ocean. Turned out the robot was just dreaming, and never really jumped. But wait, it's a FREAK'N ROBOT!!! What the hell is the big freak'n deal??? Does this mean we need to ban suicidal scenes in all movies and tv shows now too?

You oughta see what the person looks like who is creating this huge uproar. I'd post "her" pic but I can't find it online. Just watch the news. Damn is she hideous.

This is REALLY pathetic. I can't believe how sensitive this society has become.

I like to see people like this exercise their right to free speech. It allows me to exercise my right to ignore f**king morons.

More and more, I think we need to pass stupidity laws!

What bothers me more is all of the stupid disclaimers you see on commercials. It's always stupid obvious crap that no normal person would do, but they have to advise against it or whatever because one moron will and then sue... idiots.

It pissed me off that they would stoop so low, as to portray somthings death to make an ad. Not that I care about a robot jumping off a bridge, I just thought it was an awful way to advertise. They could have chosen a better way. All I remember was the robot dropping a screw then jumping off a bridge. I have no idea what point they are trying to get across, from the one time I have seen the ad.

Some robots can't come to grips with who they really are. This robot couldn't take the fact that society wouldn't except him as a gay robotic cowboy so he jumped into the river.

Did you also find the "Crash Test Dummies" advertisements and subsequent line of toys offensive too?

We are waiting for your punch line . . . .

Did they die?

Did the robot? I can't remember exactly, but wasn't the whole thing a dream? (I'm seriously asking, not trying to stir the pot.)

I thought it was a pretty bad commercial, but not because of the "suicide". I just thought it was pretty stupid for a company that continually struggles with their quality image to show that their robots don't even work correctly...
