Boy, did you ever hit it on the head there Toaster. That's what my problem was. See, I wasn't a bad golfer...but I wasn't consistent either. If I could have gone out and consistently shot 90's I'd probably still be playing. But sometimes I'd shoot an 82 and sometimes I'd shoot a 102.Toaster said:I don't think it matters how good you are, to enjoy the game. Whats important is how you play and with who you play. If you go out there and expect to shoot in the 80's (for example) and turn the corner with a 50 and get all upset- you're not going to enjoy it.
That's what drove me nuts. Strange thing is, I'm really not a competitive person or a hot head. But that game man, it turned me into an animal. In fact, the last time I played was w/ my mother. After 18 holes of misery and one 9 iron wrapped around a tree she lightly questioned "have you thought about not golfing?"
That was it. Haven't played since that day. See, my mother is an amazing golfer and generally wins the female member/member and occasionally the member/guest at our local club. I felt a lot of pressure from her to golf. Once she gave the OK on quitting everything was OK
