Habanos S.A. Announces "Modest" Price Increase for 2026

Article on Halfwheel breaks it out by brand. 3%-5% for most brands with a couple getting a big bump. Outliers are RA (8%), QDO (9%) and LGC getting an almost 17% increase. Virtually no increase on Trinidad and Sancho Panza and no increase at all for Flor de Cano.

I think we owe a debt of thanks to the Cuban corrections system for this "modest" bump in price.

I've said it before, but it's worth repeating; for a bunch of commies, they sure seem to understand and embrace the whole capitalism thing......

My prediction is - the prices of Cuban smokes will continue to inch up every year, until they see a sales impact. As long as they can sell absolutely everything they can crank out, for ridiculous prices....they will continue to do so. Once sales dip, they'll recalibrate. Maybe. They've placed themselves in the Ferrari category; limited production, limited availability, stupid high prices. Works is you can pull it off....

The wild card is folks like Fabrica5 and others, who are getting the formula down pretty darn well. No, of course they aren't the same, but for 20% or less of the cost and very respectable products, they are getting traction. I see Cuban smokes whittling down to a handful of legacy brands, smoked by folks that don't appreciate them, but they look good driving their Maserati in their designer suits, smoking a Cohiba. Sadly......

As they say, one man's opinion.....

I hope you're right. I just don't think we'll see enough of a market correction in my lifetime that will make me buy them the way I did 5-10 years ago.

My prediction is that I will continue to not buy them. Fake-ass communists.

I buy a fraction of what I did in the glory days when Habanos started selling on the grey market way under their value. Jealous of you all that love NCs. I really wish I did. Would make this hobby so much easier and affordable these days.

Higher end Padrons and Fuentes, don’t tickle that palate of yours?

Yup, I quit buying about 2020, just can't justify it. I probably now have a stash that will last my lifetime! I went pretty crazy back in my buying days. I'm now learning a new appreciate for New World cigars. That's mostly what I smoke now, with the occasional CC.
Pretty much the same story for me.

Except for some singles on vacation, March 2022 was my last big purchase, just before the BIG bump which if I remember right was in June or July 2022. I probably have about 100-125 Habanos left in my humidor and I smoke them infrequently. Not so much because I am saving them, but more so because I have found a lot of New World smokes that I really enjoy.

John @jfields and I had a long discussion a couple days ago about what the logic may be for the Cuban market. Other than the gray market, you can't find anything but small cigars or lower end Cubans, AND NOBODY WILL SHIP TO THE US ANYMORE! So, in order to get better Cuban cigars we are seeing prices that are 3X to 10X what they sold for 5 years ago.

It's my guess that they saw that people will buy no matter what the price! So why work their butts off to produce 400M cigars to satisfy every Cuban cigar smoker when they can produce 200M quality cigars and sell them for huge profits? And why ship to the USA when cigars get seized and distributors have to foot the bill to replace them? Across the board they have probably reduced their staffing, reduced their inventory, reduced their overhead, simplified their operation, and are raking in the profits from higher end cigars.

As Tom @BlindedByScience put it, this will continue until the demand dwindles. Until then, they will rape us based on our addiction! Just like the NFL! Just like a drug dealer!

Same. Funny thing is I got into them originally because they were easy cheaper for what you got than most NC. Oh the good old days.

I remember one of my last purchases prior to the increase was a special of one box each of R&J 1, 2, & 3 AT for $166 total.

Those three boxes today would cost well over $1000....... but nobody will ship them to the US.
My last purchase in 2022 was a 2 box deal of RyJ Cedros Deluxe No. 3 for $305. One box is $450 now.

Some international vendors won't even ship New World cigars to the US right now because of the tariff situation. You have UPS destroying packages in customs because they can't keep up. There's no way I would buy right now, even if prices weren't out of hand.

My guess is it's going to take the Chinese economy tanking, and then we'll see them begging us to come back.

Although, China did that with the wine market in the late 80s and 90s. The supply recovered, but the pricees never really went back down

Afraid not. Tried a bunch last year and they just don’t do it for me now. They are good cigars but I don’t find them enjoyable at all.

Well damn, that sucks. You have my address if you need to "unload" those horrible HTF Padrons and Fuentes, LOL.
