Had something like that on my wife's van a while ago. One caliper pin had gotten moisture in it and rusted to the point that the caliper wouldn't slide so it just rubbed the pad away until the plate was dragging on the rotor, just like yours looks to have done. Since it was just one corner of one pad (until the pad material was all gone) on the fairly weak anyway rear brakes, it wasn't all that noticeable until it started making noise.I guess this could go in either or both, Happy and Unhappy thread. Just another brake job on one of the kids vehicles. This time it’s my sons ‘99 F150. I started driving it this week, because he had asked me to fix a few things while he was at Basic/AIT.
Well with as loud as these damn brakes were, I figured I’d have to replace both the rotors and pads. Holy shit, was I right. The front passenger rotor was f’d and when I looked at the pads, no wonder why they were loud!
Had a celebratory 858 Rosado after.

So I ordered new pads and rotors from Rock Auto, and then when I was trying to remove it the pin, it was corroded so bad that the head just snapped off, leaving the pin rusted solid inside the caliper. So then I needed a new caliper as well. Luckily O'Reilly had them in stock locally.
Over the last 30 years I have seen multiple rotors destroyed when pads decintigrated and left the rivets left. It always seams to happen with my wife's various vehicles.I guess this could go in either or both, Happy and Unhappy thread. Just another brake job on one of the kids vehicles.
