Well today I was able to make a childhood dream come true. Got to see my favorite planet up close and it was awesome.

And as an added bonus also got to see a space shuttle

That place is awesome. I'm spoiled being less than an hr away. I've been there multiple times. Last June they had a fly in there with some really cool stuff.

There is some serious one of a kind stuff there.

The world's first jet powered bomber...even though it was mainly used for reconnaissance toward the end of the war.

Dornier Do 335. It's hard to see in this pic but it has an engine in the front a pusher engine in the back. When it was captured and flown out P51's had a hard time keeping up w it. Read the interesting story in the surviving aircraft section on wiki.

Oh that little tail thing in the foreground of the last pic is this mini gyrocopter thing that a sailor would sit in and get towed behind a U Boat like a parasail. He could spot ships at long distance from elevation since they didnt have radar.

I debated about putting this in the Unhappy thread, or the Pets thread, but decided here was most appropriate, because she brought us five wonderful years of happiness.

From being born and living off the cold streets of Ukraine, to a shelter in Utrecht, Netherlands where she was returned twice by prospective adopters, to our warm home while we lived there. One long car ride to Spain, and then later on an even longer plane ride to Hawaii. We were able to get her health issues diagnosed and treated to help give her a more comfortable daily life. From the 5th of May, 2021, Ettori never slept on a hard floor again. She did cost us over $20k in emergency surgery and other vet bills over the years, and I was ready to do it again on Saturday night. Some sicknesses just can't be cut out, though, and in the end we provided her comfort one more time the only way left to do so. She was the bestest Old Lady we could have ever had.
