Hey buddy, can you spare $100,000,000,000?

Infinity's your go-to source on the events in Zimbabwe, imho. Some of the things he's told me just angers my mind and breaks my heart for those people...

Crazy world we live in.

There is really not much, if any, of a shortage of any commodity in the world. Unfortunately, no shortage of greed and selfishness either. Now my adrenaline is all pumping and snitz!

I don't know why, but the recent runoff elections there really caught my attention. What a tragedy. Politics is politics, but what those people, as well as the Sudanese in Darfur, and others, suffer is just incomprehensible. The human(e) part of the equation sure has taken a helluva beating around the world these last few years.

The sad thing is that nobody is doing anything.

My wife was born there. In our younger days we were dairy farming in this once beautiful country.

Very sad.

It's absolutely rediculous why anyone should have to put up with something like this. They are people too. Yes, politics is politics, but something better than this needs to happen over there. :(

500 billion to buy lunch?!!!!!! :0
Lunch is not on many minds there these days. The masses (majority) are starving.

Here's the dilemma...as with most African countries, whoever is in power for a great length of time has also been corrupt during that time.
The longer he stays in power, the worse the corruption. It then reaches a point where the corruption is so radical, he cannot relinquish power
for fear of unveiling the skeletons in his closet. He does nor care about his people, only those closest to him wielding his power.

Intimidation is so bad during elections that people either flee the country or succumb to the madness and vote for the ruling party against
their free will. One third of Zimbabwe have fled to neighboring South Africa creating another set of problems for that country.

The ruling ZANY PF party, prior to an election, do whatever it takes to get votes. For example, they send their henchmen into the
villages to campaign. They enter the village, grab several people (if the village is lucky, sometimes it's half the village), usually kill at least one
person and hack a few limbs from others and then deliver their campaign speech, which is..."if you do not vote for Zane PF, we will return and do
the same to the entire village"

The rest of the world look on in horror and usually say things like, "you are a bad boy Robert Mugabe, we are going to throw some sanctions against
you". He and his cronies have every luxury they need, you are not going to hurt them, just the masses who, as usual, always suffer.

Unfortunately there is no oil or anything else of value in Zimbabwe and therefore, not a country you want to spend money on helping and so, you just
keep on saying, only when asked mind you, "you are a bad boy Robert Mugabe"

As I said earlier...very sad!

It is very sad Brian... Very sad! This is the type of stuff that keeps me from watching the news and keeping up on world affairs. I guess out of site out of mind :(

That's beyond hyperinflation - all the way to ludicrousinflation!

I thought it was bad when I was there a couple of years ago... I changed $40 US and got a backpack full of cash. It's been getting prety rediculous out there. My family does a lot of work in Zimbabwe, so I feel for those people...
