well, we had a thread about what you were gonna do... how about one for how well it went? Sorry, but gotta gloat... mine was fanFREAKINtastic! Calm seas, good beer (REALLY good - but only after the boat was back on land), biting fish, no one sank, awesome grilled salmon... everything was perfect , except for the slow start (must...resist...urge...strangle...wife...) but overall a perfect holiday vacation.

me and my 35# sea run King salmon- like my attire? needed in an open skiff ocean going boat! Boat in water at 6am, kings landed for all by 8am, full load of halibut by 10am and drinking beer at house at noon!! the only thing that would make it better is if the Swedish Bikini team would have dropped by!

The holiday weekend, eh? Let's see...I seem to recall a new irrigation pump and the installation of same, cigars and some beer in the pool, 18 holes of golf at about 27 cents per stroke, dogs and burgers on the grill, cigars around the chiminia, swimming with the dog at the dog beach... :)

Yes it did... and was a big hit I might add! My sister and my nephew both liked it ALOT. I'm heading down again on the 10th for 10 days this time, and will take more of what you sent- thanks!! Since my nephew is home from college, I'll see about getting him some from time to time- he could use it I'm sure!!

Nice catch. I also went fishing but did not hook anything of that size.

It was a great day I have to admit... 2 kings (30# and 35#) and 6 halibut (all around 20#) in the boat in less than four hours - and that includes throwing back too many halibut to count, trying to get the tastier 20 pounders! just wish I could have enjoyed a cigar or two. But my brother-in-law (his boat!) has BAD asthma, and no smoking near, or around him... even no smoky clothes near him either. So I managed to sneak one while walking the dogs on the beach, and left the clothes in my truck after a quick change... this coming week I'll bring more changes of clothes so I can have a few more smokes!

Glad everyone had a good weekend- hope all are home safe! one of the first Memorial Day weekends I can ever remember that did not include a fatality accident on the road down or back...

Nothing special for me, though it was very nice to get in some time on the lake. Nothing significant there, ran out of daylight pretty quickly but had a good smoke and some well deserved r&r.

Sounds like everyone enjoyed themselves. :)

I did a little bit of Fly Fishing. Fish were biting, and we were smoking. Couldn't get any better!

We rented a house on the beach in Manasota Key Florida. We are here for the week and loving it. The waters here in the gulf coast are so clear and clean you can see the bottom in chest deep water. So far we have had beautiful weather. Just sat around the beach and smoked some fine cigars all weekend. On the way down I got to stop at the JR Cigars outlet and buy some smokes. I was impressed by their selection. I got 4 more days before we start the 1100 mile drive home.

Awesome weekend. Took off to my house in Key Largo, took out my 37' footer and did some fishing of my own (off Molasses, Tav, etc). Had some decent luck - kingfish, black grouper, hog, dolphin, couple of barracuda (i.e., bait), and also hooked a hell of a shark (which is a story in itself). Had to comment on your pic just at the sheer contrast of it - as I was down here in nothing but shorts, basting in the 90+ temps. All the same though, sounds like your weekend was still great.

Plenty of great sticks smoked as well, loads of great beer and scotch consumed too, excellent fish and other food consumed and just overall fun by all. Was even able to get out of the Keys before the fires trapped people on US1 and Card Sound on Mon.

Edited to add -

Sounds like you landed your fish a little more quickly though, but, in those cirucmstances, I think I'd be opting for the same. :)

DAYAAAAMN!
nice going, Swissy!

I had a relaxing weekend.
hung out at the beach a bit. smoked a few 'gars, ate & drank too much, etc. . .

(hey MiamiCubano, is that Mick Jones in your avatar?!)

Yeah, I'd venture to say you had better weather, at least warmth-wise! it was about 43 degrees, but at least the wind was non-existant and the seas were like glass!! Not an ocean roller in sight. Sharp contrast to other days out there. Once we stopped, it would have been ok to strip down some, but then for the ride back it'd all have to come back on so we just stayed dressed to the hilt..

When I get My 27 footer (with a heated cabin dammit!), we'll have to swap fishing vacations!! could be alot of fun... a pass, only with fishing trips. And cigars, and beer, and...! I take possession of mine in the spring of 2007, due to an agreement with the wife (otherwise I'd have it now...)

but I wouldn't trade this kind of fishing for anthing... man, nothing beats a sea run king salmon grilled to perfection on the beach over a driftwood fire...

Puff - No, kind of close I suppose. Same band anyway. Joe Strummer. R.I.P.

I've got family in Northern California, and spent some time traveling up the West Coast, northward doing some fishing along those coasts. Up so far as Canada, but never as far as Alaska....yet. :) Sounds like a fishing pass is a damn fine idea, and I do know what you mean about the salmon - especially pacific.

I've got a 37' Intrepid in Key Largo that's always ready. I also keep another little 45 footer in Dinner Key Marina (in Coconut Grove), so I'm always up for some manner of fishing pass/herf. :)

'LITTLE' 45 footer??!?!!? Man, there's nothing little about that! And the Interpid... man, what a nice boat! Not as well suited for up here, but daaaaamn... down there it would be the sweet deal. Now I'm feeling boat envy... I'll have to go crawl over the boats in process at Glacier Craft again... :(

but I tell ya what... I might just have to tell the wife we're gonna go to disney world (with a slight detour! ) I'll bring the 'gars and beer...!

Thanks man. :) The Intrepid is definitely my baby. It's got amenities - bathroom, bed, t.v., dvd, couch, stovetop, sinks, oven, etc., and I've even ventured to Bimini in it before on more than one occassion, and the Bahamas frequently before Customs became such a huge pain in the ass getting back here, but it's definitely more exclusively my fishing baby. :) Thankfully the wife appreciates this, but it is so comfortable and glides so smoothly, we often do take many out to local spots around the Keys (such as the tiki bar, etc.) on it.

The '45 footer is a Rampage convertible, which is a fishing boat too, but hasn't seen as much action (yet) as the Intrepid. That's really more due to its location (since it's not in the Keys) right now.

Definitely make a detour if you can swing a trip to Disneyworld. :)

Who cares about Disney World!!!! :D

When's the best fishing season? If you say winter I know where we're going to go and warm up this winter!! ;)

Just kidding... I'm never one to invite myself, but I do love a good fishing trip! If you EVER want to try Alaskan waters, I know a few people with boats now, and the places to take a charter- or wait 2 years and I'll make the time for ya! I'm going to start building my house on the 5 acres we own in Homer, the Halibut capital of the World!
Some fish photos... Not my fishies, but just some decent pics of Homer fish. Can't wait to start running my own boat- I'm getting tired of running everyone else's time schedules and such...

I had my cousin come down from New York with his GF for the weekend.
Unfortunately i had to work but we went out at night.
It went by pretty quickly.

YOU GUYS ALL SUCK!!!!! :angry2: :angry2:

Had to work the entire weekend, getting home to late to do anything. And then it rained all day Monday!! :angry2: :angry2:

did I mention you guys SUCK?
