So, I'm smoking a larger than normal cigar for me....a Churchill sized JR Ultimate maduro...Sitting on the back patio enjoying myself. About 1/2 way through I am walking around the back deck and see a few leaves sticking out of the gutter. I grag a handy 3-step ladder and clean out a few handful of leaves by the downspout. At this point, being on a roll with the chores, I figure the other end probably has some blockage too. The other side is outside the screen area, so I can't put the ladder on the deck. I put it down in the dirt and climb on. I'm standing on the top step (total ignoring the giant warning sticker, but what the heck, you only live once!) and it's a bit unstable. I stick the cigar in my mouth, hang on with left hand and am digging leaves with my right. At some point, I change hands to get better leverage and without thinking go to throw a handful of leaves with my left hand which is now crossed over in front of me...of course forgetting that I have 6 inches of cigar sticking out of my mouth...I jam my forearm into the cigar which puts the cigar out and mashes the end some. It also leaves a nice size burn mark right in the middle of my left forearm....smooth move, huh?

Later that evening my wife asks me, "How'd you get that burn mark?" I tell her, "I put my cigar out with my arm today"....she knows me and isn't surprised! ha, ha, ha

And that's why I only smoke mixed filler or short filler smokes when I'm outside banging around. :D I'd much rather have an exploded stick than a burning cherry driven into skin with force. :0
 
OOOOUUCHHH! :(

The similar thing happened to me but I had a "knee jerk" reaction that didn't do as much as damage yet let me feel somehow uncool :p

The last time I had a cigar mishap I was putting on a cap while holding a (longer then usual) cigar in my mouth and my brand new jacket (a Boss synthetic finish one) suffered a 3rd degree burn.

Talk about an asshat moment :rolleyes:
 
I don't see any black ash imbedded in your arm nor a blister yet. You'll have to do much better next time.

Did that to my work truck seat, at my last job...slammed on the brakes to avoid a car the pulled out in front of me, stick fell outta my mouth, burned a nice nickle size hole in the vinyl, right between my legs!! ???

Too close! :whistling:
 
Fortunately the cigar had some ash on it and that protected me from a real bad burn. Plus I didn't have my teeth on it, so when I whacked the end of it, it drove it in my mouth about 1/2 way preventing the hot part from being driven into my skin. I was lucky...but still felt like an idiot. The only saving grace was that I was in the backyard and nobody saw it. It's cold enough here to wear longsleeves too, so ain't nobody gonna know! Except you guys....

And yes, I did finish the cigar!
 
I dropped about an inch of cigar between my legs in my wifes car driving down the interstate (I-85)...wearing swimming shorts no less. Needless to say, we found out just how fast I could get stopped, and out of the car (from 80+- mph) as I couldn't find the burning devil while slamming on the brakes. Anyway, it turned out better than it could have...no burns on me...but left a nice quarter sized place in her seat...could have been LOTS worse. She was pretty unhappy, as she'd been telling me that it was gonna happen for about 30 minutes...oh well.
