It would bleach the sides of the cigars exposed to sunlight, perhaps make the humidity uneven, etc.

Think of the upholstery at the top of the back seat of a car that is not garage-kept.

...it looks like the real key to these things is the self-regulating humidification system. It's $300 for the larger model.

For $300, I expect to be able to turn a little dial with .1% gradations. If I turn the dial to 64.6%, I expect that sucker to read 64.6% when measured by a scientist.
