I'm going into University Hospital in Syracuse tomorrow morning to receive the first Cervitech artificial cervical disc in the US. I've been having horrible back problems for quite some time, and had a fusion in the neck done in '91. This artificial disc is an alternative to another fusion. I met the profile, and was chosen by the hospital and mfg company. This is the beginning of a study done by the FDA in order to approve this device. The execs from Cervitech have flown in to sit through the operation, as has a bunch of orthopaedic surgeons. I'll be famous!! If I survive, that is.
I'm beginning to get really nervous. For those of you who will, say a prayer for me...I'd really appreciate it.
